Recently, every time I think about LotR I get this really nostalgic feeling. It’s almost sad. I don’t know why I’m mentioning this, it’s kind of embarrassing but it’s weird
It’s not weird, I feel the exact same way. Heck, I watched LotR first in the autumn and every autumn now I think of as LotR season. When I see leaves changing colour I don’t think ooh Halloween and all the rest, I think LotR movies lol.

Wow! That’s really cool. I read the Silmarillion when I was a kid and it still takes me back to that age when I think about it.
I was reading the Fellowship last night and when Bilbo disappeared I almost cried because of the nostalgia. How old were you guys when you first read LotR?
I was like 11 the first time, but it didn’t really hit me till like 14 when I watched the movies.

I’ve been rereading them for the first time in a while, and I understand everything so much better.

I agree. I understood Tolkien much better the second time I read LOTR and the Silmarillion in college.
My dad read the Hobbit to me when I was about 8, then I forgot about it, then I read it again some years later and remembered it and LOVED it, then I read LOTR.

I think Tolkien had a great imagination, but... his word choice is often strange, and he brings in plot-destroying characters like Tom Bombadil which... throw away any sort of seriousness in the early tale.

Why do you think Tom Bombadil is plot destroying?
It... well. Basically plopping a careless immortal god in the story as a dues ex machina and then throwing him away when he'd cause problems is what I'd call immersion ruining lol

I wouldn’t say it’s that strange. Remember the books are also really old, so is the language in them. Although I do agree but I would say that his word choice is unique and interesting. BRO I CANT STOP THIS NOSTALGIA ITS SO SAD AAA

Its not being old, its just he's kinda waffley. Charming, but not concise in any sense.
Also as to nostalgia, you better see the Rings of Power trailers.

Tolkien’s writing is brilliant.
