If the Witch King returned 100 years after the Return of the King, what would have happened? Here's what I think:
First, he would have traveled to the ruins of Angmar, since it is probably the most secure of the dark fortresses, since its so remote. Orcs would have started journeying towards him, since they are drawn to dark power. We can assume there were still a few orcs left in Gundabad after the War of the Ring, probably some scattered tribes in the Misty Mountains, and of course, all that was left of Sauron's armies by the sea of Nurnen. The Gundabad orcs would have joined him pretty quickly, being practically next door to him. The Misty Mountains orcs would have taken a little while, since they are probably somewhat reluctant to fight after the War. We can assume that the Mouth of Sauron would have heard of him and joined too. He probably would have had to travel to Mordor personally, since it is so far away. With a sizable army, his first order of business would have been to attack Arnor, followed by all the lands to the east of the Mountains, followed by Lorien and Rohan, and finally Gondor. He would have probably been stopped before finishing with Arnor, as Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli would have turned up and helped fight him, but there is a chance he could have actually destroyed it for a second time. I can't see him doing much more then that before all the Free People did him in.
I think he woud attack lorien first, i think he'd want to dispel what little elves were left as soon as possible.
He would have had to take out the Woodland Realm too, as they were both in an alliance and jointly ruled Greenwood (Mirkwood).
I think 100 years later there would be very very very few elves left, not enough to fill a village I would think.
Well, the Woodland Realm was the biggest elf realm at the time of LOTR (biggest as in it had the most populace), and Lorien was a close second. While most of the high Elves left for Valinor after LOTR, Lorien and the Woodland Realm were both wood elves only (with the exception of Galadriel), and their populations would have been mostly intact. Plus Thranduil and Celeborn are super powerful, it would have been easier to attack Arnor. Plus its right next door, so I think he would have made it a priority.

If the witch king had an army they wouldn't be that big of a problem, although for the record they are elves and legolas single handedly took out like half of the orcs in the battle for helm's deep, they would only need like 10 elves to defeat an army of orcs.
Legolas is the best fighter in Middle Earth. Normal elves far outstrip most mortals, but they're not Legolas. They would need an army (if not a very big one) to defeat the Witch King. Also, as I said in the OP, the Witch King would have had all the orcs from Gundabad, the Misty Mountains, and whats left of Mordor. He would have had a sizable army. But yes, the elves would have whooped his ass.

Probably. But you have to remember, the Witch King was nearly as powerful as Sauron himself. They could have beaten him, it wouldn't have been easy but it certainly wouldn't have been deadly

He's only as powerful as sauron if he's facing men. If they have a female elven warrior even close to the likes of arwen when it comes to fighting, the witch king would be done. all it took was a princess to defeat him in return of the king, although she nearly died in the process

Wait, are we basing all this off the movies? Cause in the book Arwen is a useless pretty nothing who does nothing in LOTR except sit in Rivendell looking pretty and sewing. But yes, if they had a decent female elven warrior the witch kning = dead.

EDIT: Oh waith, and Earindels mom too.
Those books were made when women weren't respected, I think that's why they had arwen kick butt in the movies.
I came up with a theory as to how Thranduil got half his faced burnt off by a dragon in the movie: His dad, Oropher, was king of the wood elves after Thingol died. We can assume that they fought in the War of Wrath, and that Thranduil was fairly old at the time, cause I think the reason he hated dwarves is because they killed Thingol, and his dad and him led the war that wiped out the majority of the dwarven race. Legolas would have been in the battle too, as the survivors of Gondolin were there. After the dragons got released by Morgoth, we can assume he fought one, possibly with the help of Legolas and/or Oropher, and killed it. Even if he had help from his dad and son, they all look good, as the dragons drove back the Valar themselves!

Eowyn was even more bad-ass then she was in the movie, and she was the first "Warrior-Princess" of modern fantasy literature. Throw in Luthien, who did a lot of cool stuff too, and Tolkien was far ahead of his time when it came to women. I don't like how in the movie they made Arwen look so good at the expense of making Eowyn look so bad (they made Arwen the cool Warrior-Princess and Eowyn the wishy-washy nothing who does nothing except moon over Aragorn for a movie).
Hm. If Sam had been given the Ring, could he have got it to mnt Doom and chucked it? I think he could have done it, if he had let Gollum lead him. Thoughts?

I think he could have. Sam's practically an elf when it comes to purity and heart.

Feanor would like a word. Or Thranduil. Or Daeron. Or any number of elves, really.
Sam was loyal and brave, but I don’t think he could have carried Frodo’s burden, much less cast it in. Besides, his mistrustfulness and quickness to anger would have led him into trouble with Gollum, Faramir, etc. Both he and Frodo were needed to complete the Quest.
Anyway, like addiction or depression, the pull of the Ring isn’t something you can just resist by being “strong.” A good and resilient person like Frodo could take it far, but in the end it got him, as it would Sam.

I still think sam would have lasted longer, in the end, didn't Bilbo really last the longest without going corrupt?

Yes, but the Ring hadn’t awoken yet. That’s why Frodo fell so quickly while bilbo lasted much longer.

What’s people’s theories on how Thranduil got half his face burnt off by a dragon in the movie? Here’s mine: His dad, Oropher, was king of the wood elves after Thingol died. We can assume that they fought in the War of Wrath, and that Thranduil was fairly old at the time, cause I think the reason he hated dwarves is because they killed Thingol, and his dad and him led the war that wiped out the majority of the dwarven race. After the dragons got released by Morgoth, we can assume he fought one, possibly with the help of Oropher, and killed it. Even if he had help from his dad, they both look good, as the dragons drove back the Valar themselves!

Also, why does no one like Thranduil? He's a very cool sorta-hero with a tragic past. He has a really deep character, and all the things that you think he's doing just cause he's a jerk actually have very good reasons for them. He's definitely my favorite elf after Legolas.

Very true.

If they even had a medium-ish army he'd be calling for his mommy

Back in black baby
Wait, are we basing all this off the movies? Cause in the book Arwen is a useless pretty nothing who does nothing in LOTR except sit in Rivendell looking pretty and sewing. But yes, if they had a decent female elven warrior the witch kning = dead.

I guess yeah that's only in the movie, who's a powerful elven female? uhhhhh....Galadriel I guess. She's really the only one.

Yup. Heck, her and Luthien are the only elf females mentioned in the books!

I came up with a theory as to how Thranduil got half his faced burnt off by a dragon in the movie: His dad, Oropher, was king of the wood elves after Thingol died.
