Ettor looked at Kinsley. "Birdie, take care of that, will you?"
He turned back to Caramel. "I believe my acquaintance would like to know how to help someone's... soul? I think... out of some sort of necklace or something."
*Ok, how does the bird try to take care of the small thief child?*
Jackson, finishes his drink and stands up. The smell of deeply scarred decay his his nose, he turned his head towards the source, Damien
*Alignment wise, no, but decay yes*
Damien looks at them after a moment, "Um.... yes?"
He says nothing, the air around Damien getting to his brain.
".....Alright then." He says after they don't respond, turning back to his food.
Jackson, on the inside, knew this man was a necromancer. He felt his hand reach for his blade before quickly regaining control and pulling it away. He sits down at a table and orders a meal, keeping an eye on Damien
After finishing his meal, damien pulls out a book, opening it and writing something down.
Jackson watches but can't see the words
After a few seconds of writing, damien looks at them again, then writes a quick note into the book
He narrows his eyes before checking his pocket watch. He counts for three seconds before snapping it shut and standing up, walking over to Damien "Who are youP
"My name is Damien."
"Your smell is different from that of a living thing, you are not undead yourself but you have the smell of rotting flesh." he said, Eyes glinting from under the shadow of his hood
"Odd way of telling someone they need a shower."
"insult or not, Your are a necromancer, yes?" he asked
"Indeed, i am the resident necromancer."
"Hm" he said, gripping the hilt of his sword. He leans forward, sniffing the air around damien "You do not smell like an evil thing, but ill have to keep a close eye on you"
"Sniff me again, and i will do something about it."
He kept silent before sitting down across from Damien. He kept his expression stone cold as he watched Damien.
Damien sigh, flicking a pencil at them
He sighs internally, not making a move for his weapon or even flinching.
"So, if I tell you as much as I can learn about the journal by spying on Thirteen, will that help you summon it?" Tevelin asks Ettor.
"Look, the magic I do is more in the illusion slash death type, so unless you got a dead person who's seen the journal before, I'm not much use."
*OOOH bad luck, Thirteen took an oath to never kill. He's a vegetarian and does anti-death magic as a result. Except...*
"Yes! Yes there is!" Tevelin says, standing up in excitement. "Thirteen's familiar is a psionic zombie cat, and he has three skeletons that work for him! We could use either!"
"Since they work for him, would they really be willing to tell us about the journal. And of they are, chances are Thirteen would have also been willing to talk."
"Well, the cat sounds like our best shot, since cats are so independent. I think she's out on the front lawn, we can go question her!"
"Fine, lead the way, bird."
*Oh wait, Poppy is out on the lawn too. Ettor may be little help after all.*
Tevelin walks onto the lawn, toward the undead cat who is sunning herself in Entropy's warm sunbeams.
Ettor walks up to the little cat. "Hello, cat, do you mind if we speak for a bit?"
The cat twists her head, her orange glowing eyespots resting on Ettor's face. <What's up? Make it fast, I was napping.>
"I have an acquaintance that would like to hear about a certain person's journal."
<Why?> Caramel (the undead cat) looks suspiciously at Ettor and Tevelin. <You aren't working for Feakor, are you?>
"No, I'm afraid I haven't heard that name before."
Caramel studies Ettor's face carefully. <You lie a good deal, but I can tell you aren't lying about this. What do you want to know?"
"Well, that certain person's journal happens to be Thirteen, we'd appreciate anything you could tell us about it."
<It's a fairly large hardback book. It's got a black cover with a triangular pattern of red, gold, and green stitched on the front. Most of the first part of the journal serves as Thirteen's spellbook. The rest is a record of Thirteen's travels across the Inner Planes and the Material Plane. Why do you want to know?>
Ettor looked at Kinsley. "Birdie, take care of that, will you?"
He turned back to Caramel. "I believe my acquaintance would like to know how to help someone's... soul? I think... out of some sort of necklace or something."
"RING, Ettor, ring." Tevelin turns to Kinsley. "Sorry, pal, but we're kinda busy. Go interrupt Theren or something."
"Fiiiinnneeee, whatever." Kinsley clambers to the rafters to take a nap and return later.
Theren puts a finger on the spine of the books and lowers it. "Taceli, you ok?"
"...I'm fine, I'm just not used to talking... like this."
"I get it. It took me awhile to open up as well."
"No, it's just that I've never been around people I can talk to like this."
Theren fidgets with a necklace before saying, "Well same here."
Taceli sat in awkwardness for a bit before slowly going back to her book.
Theren just sits there flipping through his pocketbook for a moment before breaking the silence. "Do you still have a family?"
"N-no, I've always been by myself in my travels."
"O-oh..." Theren sits there for a moment slightly feeling awkward about asking such a personal question.
She shuffles a bit. "I-it's alright."
"You sure?" Theren asks as he brushes a piece of his hair out of his face.
"Yeah, it's good to be able to speak about things instead of keeping them inside."
"Its better not to keep it all bottled up. You want anything to drink?" Theren asks.
"No, thanks for asking.*
"Ok." Theren leaves for a moment before coming back with a mug of coffee.
She was almost done with her book.
"I take it your enjoying the book?"
"Yeah, the story's interesting."
"Whats the story about?"
"A dragon basically trying to earn the trust of a small village."
Theren flinches at the word dragon.
She looked a little worried. "Are you okay?"
"I don't really like dragons...."
"Oh...." She looked a little more awkward than before.
"You ok? Did I say something wrong or..?"
"No, you're fine. That's a reasonable opinion, many dragons have a bad rep."
"Yea. I finally figured out what dragon destroyed my village. I also found out where the orcs went after." Theren says with a slight angry tone. His green eyes are slightly teary as he thinks about that day.
"Oh, umm, I'm sorry... again."
Theren shakes his head. "It's fine. Wasn't your fault. Anyways, did you have any childhood friends or enemies?" Theren asks hastily changing the subject.
"No, well, not in specific, since I never stayed in one place long enough to form any strong bonds like that."
"Any in general then?"
"Well, there have been some thieves who've targeted me before, and similar greedy people, but that's about it."
"Well thieves will do that." Theren shifts in his seat so that his cloak isn't in his way. A small bit of black peeks out of the shirt on his arm.
Ettor looked at Kinsley. "Birdie, take care of that, will you?"
He turned back to Caramel. "I believe my acquaintance would like to know how to help someone's... soul? I think... out of some sort of necklace or something."

He sighs internally, not making a move for his weapon or even flinching.
"So tell me, what brings something like you to this place?"
"To hunt down monster's and people who commit crimes and deeds that stray from the path of good"
A human man with very tanned skin, and sandy brown hair walks in. He wears clothing that looks like itd be best in a desert under a chain shirt, and a ring with a bright blue gem. Parts of his clothes appear to be singed, and he looks tired, as if from a long journey. His eyes are a sapphire color, and parts below them seem to have small splotches of paint. He walks in, glancing at people, seeming to study them with narrowed eyes. He sits, and speaks in a deep, rough voice "Ill take whatevers strong. That goes for both the drinks, and those who wish to speak."
Jackson, who was the table a few feet away, stared at the newcomer, though he was nothing but a newcomer himself, he still had a job.
He began staring back, his eyes narrowed in focus *STARING CONTEST*
Jackson eyes, hidden behind the shadow's of the hood, continued to stare. After a few seconds of the staring, he stands up up and walks over.
He continues staring back, tilting his head slightly
He sticks out a hand "Jackson knight, who might you be?"
He shakes it, not breaking the eye contact stare "Xio."
"Pleasure to meet you" he nods his head slightly, not seeming to break eye contact "what are you here for?"
"A job. You?"
He looks like he is about to say something but knows to choose his words wisely "a Job as well"
"Of what sort?"
"How about you tell me why your here first then we can go off of that" he said
"And wheres my guarantee that youll actually respond with your reasons?
"Not that i Bet or Swear upon much, but consider this." he takes off his golden Pocket watch "keep this and if i lie, you can have it"
He looks at it carefully, checking if its real gold
It is, on the back are words written in celestial. Jackson watches, seemingly predicting that he would check
He can read celestial
The words say 'Property of Inquisitor Knight'.
"Inquisitor, eh?"
He nods, his expression remaining stone cold. "For a number of years now.." he said
"So your work relates, then?"
Jackson nods "I am here to hunt down people who pose a threat to our world"
"Which world would that be?"
"The one that we are currently on" he said, ordering a glass of wine. "Now that i have answered, what is your job?" he said taking back his pocket watch
"Tracking."
"that isn't the complete truth is it?" He asked, pressing the glass against his teeth
"What do you mean?"
"Nevermind" he said, avoiding the question completely "So why did you pick this tavern?"
"This is where the thing Im tracking has been recently"
"is it human or something entirely else?"
"Not human"
"Hm... what is it called?" He asked
"Why is that your business? You havent told me who exactly you hunt here"
He narrows his eyes underneath of the shadow of the hood. "Im asking this because I might be able to help you, I was sent here of all places to hunt down evil and eliminate it from the surface of this plane" he said
"I can handle things"
"said the barbarian before fighting the red dragon" he quoted
"Im not fighting a red dragon. Or anything similar"
"its a quote. Sometimes fighting things with help is better then alone" he said
"I dont need your help, thanks"
