The Twinkling Stars Tavern is a (Homebrew) Spelljammer Ship sailing through the cosmos. She offers fine food, luxurious rooms and a smooth ride for however long you stay, for free. But you can't just walk onto the Twinkling Stars, oh no. The ship has a strange quirk where she randomly teleports people from different universes onto her main deck. You might have a teacher in the middle of teaching a class teleported here, a soldier in the middle of battle teleported here, or even someone seconds away from hitting the ground after falling of a cliff!
For the past few years, the Twinkling Stars Tavern has been resting at the Floating Isle Inn. But now, at long last, it seems to be ready to take off again! Eldritch thrusters blazing, people at the Inn have minutes to get on before it leaves. It's central navigation systems are still offline, so who knows where it's headed...
*Hello everyone! Feel free to roleplay here, although I don't expect this to go like a normal Tavern. This is to celebrate a year of me making my first roleplay thread, when I first got to meet this wonderful community and befriend so many that I still talk to today. This is a chance for people to explore the ship, and for people who were here before, to bring back characters for nostalgia. There's a lot of Lore, and many things tie in with other threads, don't feel pressured to read it all. It's just there to explain ties in the story... and foreshadow the true storyline I have in mind...*
Twinkling Stars Tavern Lore:
The Twinkling Stars Spelljammer ship is the best off all of Intelligent lifes creations. It was Created by the greatest engineers around the galaxy for the F.L.U.F.F. (the Futuristic Life of Unity Free Forever) After they won the great war. It has solar sails, Eldritch thrusters and cannons, a Prismatic Wall shield, It's as big as the 007 Asteroid, (11.9 km across) and has Air and gravity control along with many other features. It was powered by an Rolls Royce Engine, (the latest model) Which at its heart held a Singularity. The most powerful Wizards in the land had managed to extract this Singularity from a black hole, and after the Artificers did much testing on it, it looked like it was just a object of immense power which just gave of tonnes and tonnes of free Energy. So they put It in the Engine. Then came the day of dread. It was the Twinkling stars first voyage, and everything was going smoothly. It was getting a little cold on deck, so the captain turned up the heating. This is done by turning a little dial in the control room. What happens is depending on how far you turn the dial, it tells the Engine to send more or less power to the heating systems. Then a few hours later, everyone agreed that it was too hot, so they sent a crew mate to go and turn it down. But everyone was a little drunk, including this here crew mate. So it didn't take much for him to fall over and Break the tube connecting the Engine to the heating systems. The tubes have a safety mechanism that automatically powers then down when they are broke so no one gets shocked by them. The crew mate got up, had a look at the tube, and said to himself, "That should turn off the heating" and walked away chuckling. It may have turn of the heating, but It didn't turn off the Engine. All that extra power it was creating was no longer going to the heating systems, so it instead doubled back on itself and headed back to its source. This caused the Engine to overheat, and everything went wrong from there. The singularity started letting off wild magic causing most of the ship to malfunction, and the F.L.U.F.F. control center lost all communications with it. Nobody knows what happened to the ship or the crew there after...
A massive floating island. Very high in the sky, only 200 meters from Wildspace. A massive inn on its surface, which at its highest touches space and at its lowest hangs off the bottom of the isle. Fishing gnomes. What could go wrong?
You can arrive in a number of ways. Whether you are a being of incredible endurance and strength, and so you climbed one of the ropes that hangs from the island, or if you come from other worlds, and have docked your ship at the isles glass docks, you have come to this 20-mile diameter island for reasons of your own. The Inn itself is a small bar with a massive spire on top of it, where all the best rooms are. The very top room even has access to the tip of the spire so you can anchor your ship to it! The majority of the rooms are under the ground though. Passages weaving through this massive floating rock, sometimes becoming glass tunnels that go round the edge of it, lead to hundreds of rooms. If you follow these passages far enough, you will come to the bottom of the island, where a glass viewing deck hangs. Looking over the ocean, land and clouds below, it can give some people wobbly legs. Don't go here if you're afraid of heights. You either love it or you hate it and almost everyone gets used to it. Eventually.
Recently, a massive ship docked up at the glass docks of the isle. At 11 miles long, its over half the length of the island. It has been anchored underneath so to stop it casting a massive shadow over the residents of this place. It seems to of had a rough time getting here, and the name on its side has been almost completely rubbed out. People think it’s called the Tavern Star Twinkling, but no one is sure. Staff are still searching it for survivors, but it's a big place.
As for the history of the island itself, it's a long story. A long time ago, the world cracked. Not in half, but like a giant earthquake. The only thing that seemed to stop the crack was adamantine, and even then, it would break through it in a matter of hours. It went straight through King Dragon Slayers Kingdom, and his people had to take refuge in the forests around their destroyed homes. Nothing stood a chance against this split in the planet's crust, everything in its path fell. And it was heading straight towards the largest mountain around. But this wasn't any mountain. This was an inhabited mountain. The Spider Guilds Lair. So much machinery and increasable inventions were in this mountain, and the crack had grown larger. Now over 2 miles wide, it was only a few days away. Yvonne, the spider queen, and a symbol of strength to so many, would not be able to save her people. That's when King Dragon Slayer approached her with an idea. He asked for as many Atlases as Yvonne could spare. (Atlases are robots created by the spider guild.) He was given hundreds and marched off with them. The King knew of another mountain, one shaped like an hourglass. But the king had heard of a secret. At the narrowest part of this hourglass mountain, there was a gap. The top half was actually floating. So, he ventured inside the floating island, and found a strange hovering rock in the middle of it. The lodestone. By moving it around, the king was able to move the island, and turn its ability to float on and off. He got the isle to fall and roll all the way to the Spider guilds lair and help get his people and all Yvonne's amazing inventions on to it. The mountain was destroyed, but the guild survived and found a new mountain. No one knows if the crack stopped or kept going. As of now, the floating isle was stolen a few years back and transformed into what it is today, thousands of miles away from the guild and King Dragon Slayers Kingdom.
Rules:
1. No PVP without permission from both people playing the characters. If that is agreed to, then PVP may occur outside, but no such fighting may happen inside the Inn or Ship itself.
2. If you wish to have an encounter or something similar, let's talk about it over in PMs and I will see if I can run it.
3. Please do not use overly vulgar language (such as repeated swearing or the f%&@ word)
4. Respect people!
5. If an argument gets out of hand, there is always PMs to talk about it so it doesn't clutter up the main thread.

a Drow with notched ears walks in. They wear a silver-grey kimono with the designs of a willow tree printed on it, under that they wear navy blue monk-like clothing. They carry a sheathed dagger around their thigh and a pistol in a holster around their waist. They have elegant features, sharp but delicate. Their raven-black hair is long and tied into a pony-tail that falls over their left shoulder, both sides of their head near the ears are shaven down. They piercing white eyes give off a bored look.
They take a seat in the back of the room and pull out a small, black leather bound book and beginning reading it.
A figure stumbles out of the massive ship, supposedly called the Tavern Star Twinkling, and looks around in confusion.
