Question of the day: What is your oldest pair of shoes? Did you buy them yourself?
Doesn't really count, but circa 1962 Air Force issued 10" jump boots, with zip up speed lacing inserts (this cool aftermarket accessory, that's basically a zipper on a piece of leather with eyelets, you weave the laces into the piece and so when you put on the boot you just zip them up before you tie them off, which is a lot faster than a regular laced 10" boot. Belonged to a pilot who handed them down to my Dad when he was a NCO. They don't really count because at one point he replaced them with a vibram sole and sometime around '02-03 there just wasn't enough leather in the boot to reattach strongly to the sole, but I still have them for nostalgia. I've got a pair of Clark's hiking sandals I've had since the early oughts.
Got a pair each of black, brown, and cordovan wingtips that are all ~15 years old, but I don't wear them much anymore. Everyday wear, GoRuck MacV "jungle boot" inspired pair I've had since 2018, but I"ve ditched those for Vans as my everyday shoe. Also got a pair of Vibram 5-fingers from '08, but those were a bad idea.
I yet live... but could use a Spare the Dying. A cold (thankfully not COVID) knocked me on my arse. Will resume regular posting soon.
Sorry man. I had a similar thing that wasn't COVID but made me feel awful a bit more than a month ago. I hope you get better soon.
If it matters, I have completely lost track of where this thread has gone lol. After more than 11,000 posts, I just don't know how to keep up anymore. :)

What do you guys think about this ttrpg Crit Role announced?
Didn't know about those, just checked them out. The "d6 dice pool" one I expect not to be very keen on, since it sounds like it will be more rules-lite, which I'm not a fan of. The other one, Daggerheart, seems to have had very few concrete things said about it. Hard to say.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Considering they made the Echo Knight, my favorite fighter subclass, along with a couple others, I’m excited to see where it goes.

Hi, I’m DrakenBrine, here’s my Sig and characters

I’m excited for it. Crit Role is a great group of folks and they have amazing ideas! Both d6 systems and heavier systems are fun for me, so I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Question of the day: What is your oldest pair of shoes? Did you buy them yourself?
Mine are a pair of black leather dress shoes that I have had for over 25 years. They were a gift from my Dad.
It is hard to say.
I have my dancing shoes that I wear to balls and other fancy schmancy events. I have had them for… four years? They aren’t that old.
No, that isn’t even close to my oldest. I still have several pairs of tennis shoes that I have outgrown a long time ago. The oldest pair is around 11 or 12 years old probably. They are completely destroyed and not wearable but I keep them for several reasons. One is to play a game called “Get the Boot” one guy holds a shoe, everyone else has to get it from him. It is a simple game, and you need to use a shoe that you don’t mind getting completely destroyed so I have several old shoes for it. I also keep these old, destroyed shoes in case I ever want to build anything out of them. I have built a functional slingshot using shoelaces and pieces of cloth and rubber that I tore from some of those shoes. My shoe closet looks very weird because of the dismembered shoes that are still in it.
My extended family still has cowboy boots that my great grandpa wore. I don’t own them, but I borrow them whenever I am hiking in Texas. Everything is trying to kill your down there so you need good foot protection.
The oldest pair of shoes that I own are probably the cleats I wear for soccer. They were my Dad’s when he played, and I still use them. They are probably twenty or thirty years old.
I play a lot of soccer, go on overnight hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other spots, and run cross country, so most of my shoes don’t last more than a year and a half before my toes are visible from the outside and the bottoms flap with every step like the wings of a bat.
Frog what I understand, the Critical Role RPG isn't being developed by anyone who's actually on Critical Role. It's being developed and published by a company they own. Is that right?

I've done a lot of vintage shopping over the years, and I've got a couple pairs of cuban heels (one black and white, one more of a dark teal combo) that were well-loved when I got them a couple decades ago. They could easily be older than I am

Whatever you do, folks, always use the tools provided by employer to do work.
Or end up having to change employers.
I am somewhat back again, engaged in cleaning my home still (it has been a month long journey) and the whole spring cleaning thing. Also discovered that my style is apparently "Colorful Modern Farmhouse", whatever the hell that is, and we have a tentative date or the start of my next campaign, with an additional tentative date for the in person dinner session for those within about four hours of me, lol.
While completely rearranging my kitchen, i had an idea for a dinner party, complete with recipes, so I am in the midst of writing those up -- one meal per realm of the seven cities -- from which I will select one course for the 9 course meal that night.
What, you thought I was the sort that didn't obsess and go way too far in everything?
HA!
today I am finishing up tweaks to the classes and some combat related stuff (sword skills, okay?). The Encyclopedia will be finished by midnight on the 30th, and after editing will link it in my sig here no later than May 7th.
My theme song is currently "New Day", but changes rather fast and is never a set thing, lol.
Criminy, I remember Stryper, but I was working crew for the Crue at the time and they (stryper) were already on the fast downslope by then. I really upset a few friends with that one -- I am not a metal fan.
More in a second -- I am catching up

Mine has to be the PHB, Xanathar’s, or Eberron. They were my first books (Admittedly, I got the PHB with the MM and DMG, but that’s unimportant) and they still have my favorite subclasses and races. They also have the most creativity and exciting ideas! (Not to mention, the PHB has all the broken spells…)
[Edit: I should clarify that I mean 5e books, as that’s a form of D&D everyone here has played. If I had included other editions then my answer would be different… 3.5 Miniatures Handbook anyone?]
Tasha's, right now. I tend to love the stuff like Tasha's and Xanathar's, but Tasha's got it because, well, witch and there is a kinship there....

Question: Do you have a favorite character you've played? If you've only ever played one, do you have a favorite / memoriable moment from that character? Played mutliple characters? Feel free to talk about any of them.
A duo, Rhythm & Blues, half elf and half dwarf.
I have forgotten Rhythm's real name, but Blues' name was Beauregard Bandelany Brohuhaugh.

If so, I find it really difficult to care at all.
I’m certain the cast (and perhaps even the crew) of the main show will have input and assist in writing and design.
Oh yeah. Well, none that I can really consider "mine," they're my mom's really. But we have two cats and a little cat-sized dog. Very friendly critters. I feel bad for them because they live almost their entire lives inside one house.
