I am running a grimdark campaign here on DNDbeyond (hopefully none of my players read this), and I am basing the seven main bosses of the game on the seven deadly sins. what would be some of y'alls suggestions for monster stats (I roughly know that pride is the most powerful, followed by gluttony, then greed, then sloth, then wrath, then lust, and envy at the bottom of the totem pole.) I imagine each as a demonic version of a humanoid (don't ask why, but it's something like: goliath for pride, animal-people for gluttony, dwarf for greed, elf for sloth, firbolg for wrath, gnome for lust, human for envy) with a glowing gem shard in its chest with a corresponding color to its sin.
well, first off, it is going to depend on the party, lol.
We need a rough idea of what the party levels will be for each of them.
Also, particularly, if you are going to use a seven deadly sins motif, you should consider the seven heavenly virtues as magical McGuffins with which to combat the sins -- one cannot merely beat a sin into submission, after all, one must counter it with an appropriate virtue (see, those years in seminary did have a use!).
The party will be lvl 7 for envy, lvl 9 for lust, lvl 11 for wrath, lvl 13 for sloth, lvl 15 for greed, lvl 17 for gluttony, and lvl 19 for pride.
They consist of a human champion fighter (Pole arm build w/ spear), bladesinger wizard, tempest cleric/storm sorcerer, Stars Druid, & Divine Soul Sorcerer.
What about each of the seven heavenly virtues are in the form of items? like powerful weapons/implements that would have to be used to get the killing blow on the boss. maybe wrath could be an axe, and.... (long train of thought)
So, that's a start that will let us start planning out an encounter basis for each of them.
as for the virtues...

(We are, of course, referencing the Capital Virtues, as opposed to the cardinal ones)
I placed the Virtues into the same order as your sins, and provided a suggestion of an object for each. The thing the object does is just be a metaphor for the whole thing. Perhaps each one gives the party some resistance to some attack of the assorted personifications. I gave ne possible example of a thing that it could do.
I will note that you do not want to have a box with a head in it. Otherwise you will have "what's in the box" references for the next 30 years. Although, I do kinda enjoy that.
For my example mcguffins, I want to note I leaned heavily on the metaphors for the traditional sins -- there is a certain, um, feel to them, lol. Theologians prior to Gregory had some incredible fun with the symbolism around them, and of course alchemists were even more fun.
if it was I, each item would provide a certain benefit against the BBES it opposes -- this allows you to not only play them more tactically, but to have some enjoyable fetch quests for each (following the original Rod of Seven Parts quest line, even, which apparently we will be seeing as part of the 50th anniversary). That benefit could be a sphere of buffs, for example, or an resistance or immunity -- but to really encourage role playing, well...
When carrying one, you have to live by that particular virtue. This would be hell for most Bards, given the current zeitgeist around them.
Now, that said, yes, you could make them weapons. That would be the pretty standard thing, except for one minor quirk: weapons and virtue don't really go along well. thus, you could also introduce a mechanism that drives how to the players the nature of what they fight -- and those would be weapons. So when they go to find the Eye they will need to turn against Envy, for example, they would come across a weapon that evokes envy int eh Player (via a passed note or messages of the "look at that cool thing so and so has. Why don't you have one? Yu could do better with that than they could" variety.).
The underlying key here, of course, is that I am suggesting you get them invested in the adventure as people by showing them how these sins operate, what they do in the world, how they drive the fracturing and destruction of friendship, trust, peace, and all that other crap.
This will make the final battles with each have a different level of import -- without Envy to empower the cursed weapon that also makes the wielder more susceptible to the attacks of Envy, the weapons loses its curse.
However, there is a reason not to include weapons: fist off, they have to do something useful. Second, once you have a magical weapon, you don't want to get rid of it, and I don't know if the characters will move on after this or not. IF not, then fine -- but by making the objects "mundane", you also interact with the puzzle solving aspect of the PCs.
And, of course, the powerful will all want these things -- that mortar and pestle is awfully useful for making love potions, for example.

Ok, so, 5 Characters, APL of 7, a Humanoid opponent.
Next questions:
Will each Sin have a Lair?
Will each Sin have minions they have to break through before the final fight?
Will each Sin have any special powers you want to see?

Fun to hear the tunes y'all associate with the characters whose adventures I've been reading/participating in. It's like a window into their interiority, but one I don't understand lol. This Sea Wolf song is pretty catchy though
Hey y’all! I’ve been gone for a while, but I figure it’s worth throwing in a new question. After all, I’ve missed it!
So, opinions on Doctor Who? Any big fans? And what’re your thoughts on DW in D&D?
Well, I mean, that damn blue box does sorta appear and disappear a lot. And did you notice how it was smaller on the outside? Like a bag of holding, but for people.
As for the rest, well...
spoilers, darling!

I honestly grew up watching the older episodes with my mom and gram. Watched most of the newer episodes with my wife, everything through the Capaldi episodes. The newer episodes haven’t hit free streaming on any of my services yet however, so no spoilers please! (River would be very upset with you if you gimme spoilers. 😜).
It was easy because for three days at a convention I got props and pics taken of me for "a great River Song".
I was not in costume that convention, lol.

Yeah. I googlized it (and had seen: https://www.geeknative.com/144358/doctors-and-daleks-doctor-who-officially-comes-to-dds-5e/ ) - but I assumed this was something else since that (and yer link) were from back in 2022. That's sotwo years ago. Thought there was some weird hype about something new with Doctor Who officially getting something through D&D, similar to Stranger Things.
Man, sometimes I wish I could press a button and send a bunch of angry forum-goers after one specific person. Like a "nuke thread" button that deploys the forum special forces to forcibly correct their reasoning and point out their numerous logical fallacies.
