Another idea for a tavern… a city that is actually living, like it’s a giant organism that’s slowly but surely moving across the world, absorbing other cities into its mass. Its streets are its blood vessels, its walls it’s skin, its gates its mouth, and its bell tower its vocal cords.
like a giant mimic except it doesn’t eat people! Living ones, at least.
this idea was kinda inspired by Podmorski, and Okropnosc’s city from the UC.
Tavern idea, it's a modern-day Walmart but Medieval fantasy adventurers keep mysteriously and magically being transported there, it would be SO FUNNY and just good fun in general. *picks up a hobby horse* what's this, my good sir, some kind of magical mount? Giddy up, sir Charleston von Suffolk III! *employee watches in bewilderment*
Also idea for a twist, but of course I couldn't say that out loud ;)
Just gonna... bump this up a page real quick...
I hate how often you say something and it just happens to be the last one on the page and it just disappears. Like magic.

someone lies to get out of some situation. They lied about some sort of person or creature that doesn’t exist to avoid something. Maybe they made up a lover in order to avoid some awkward situation at a dance or something. The next night, in their mirror, they see something. They see whatever creature they made up. It talks to them and refuses to acknowledge the fact it doesn’t exist, getting angry if someone tells them that. Eventually if they get angry enough, their mirror breaks and the creature becomes real, usually murderous. But sometimes not, sometimes they simply go on believing whatever lie spawned them. So imagine these two characters, someone who accidentally created this thing and the thing they created, the creature refusing to leave the liars side due to something about the lie (example: the creature believes that they are both hardened adventurers and acts as if they are both going to slay some epic and unknown monster... which might come real.)
Captain Nathaniel Cairn is hardly what one might expect from the commander of such a renowned faction. He’s not the tallest — almost 6ft, but not quite — and he has both eyes and most of his limbs. At first glance, he’s not especially muscular either. His beard is neat, and trimmed close to his face. His hair is long and black wild, but noticeably clean. The irises of his eyes are black, but his pupils are a shining white. His smile reveals nearly perfect teeth. He holds a flamboyant black hat with a red plume in one hand. The Captain’s most distinguishing feature is his right hand, which isn’t a hand at all — it’s a massive ridged claw covered in barnacles and seaweed.
Active In: The Bloody Barnacle (Original), The Gut 2.0, The House of Cato, The Nexus (Indirectly)
Traits: 8/9
Courage. Is known for his bravado and is prone to taking risks, many unnecessary
An Unfair Injury. His right hand has been magically mutated by the influence of the Redlight
Skill. Has a wide variety of abilities, the most prominent of which being his ship-handling and navigation as well as his combat prowess
Funny. Has a grim sense of humor
Nice. Is surprisingly kind and not at all intimidating. Just don’t get on his bad side
In Danger. Almost universally hated by the world at large
Hardworking & Obsessed. Completely dedicated to his goal of bringing down the Queen and her agents

Here is something interesting that might be fun to think about.
Some brainy writing analyzer guy came up with a way to test if a character is likable. Think of a character from a movie or book that is a likable, well written character and see if they have at least five of these nine characteristics:
Courage
An Unfair Injury
Skill
Funny
Nice
In Danger
Loved by Friends and Family
Hardworking
Obsessed
As said above, only five of the nine are needed. Having more does not necessarily equate a more likable character.
How does this relate to Roleplay? I thought it would be interesting to see how well some of our own characters fit this. I believe this could be a good way to examine our characters and flesh them out more. If they don't fit, maybe they should be developed more? Keep in mind though that this is meant for books and movies, not roleplay settings. It might not be exactly accurate. Also realize that a character can be well written and not have to be likable, though this mostly applies to villains and side characters. Likable does not equal awesome or cool or stylish.
What do y'all think?
I'm gonna try this with both of my characters from the Bloody Barnacle.
Normiah (man who's dedicated his whole life to hunting a kraken, which has slaughtered his village. It was recently killed by the crew and now he's working for the Notched Blades):
Courage: yes. He's stared down a gargantuan beast several times, as well as facing many dangers that have attacked the barnacle.
An unfair injury: physically, not really. Mentally, he has kinda lost everyone he knew, so yes if you count that.
Skill: He's pretty skilled at combat, as well as being athletic and intimidating.
Funny: Not much.
Nice: He's been some grumpy some nice for the duration of the thread. But won't give any points here.
In Danger: He's fought a giant sea creature multiple times, and it would probably love to see him killed (during the time it was alive, but still counting it)
Loved by Friends and Family: He's a decent friend and guy, besides when he's grumpy.
Hardworking: yes, he's worked hard and fought a lot his whole life.
Obsessed: he was obsessed with killing the kraken.
Overall a 6 or 7 (depends on if mental injuries count for the second one) out of 9.
Angler (an anglerfish humanoid with the power to emit bright lights to attack his foes, even able to use hypnosis):
Courage: he isn't a coward, will fight in battle, although he typically tries the stealthy approach and avoids enemies noticing him rather then charging into battle. Kinda counts, so I'll add a point.
An unfair injury: no.
Skill: decent at pickpocketing, gambling, being stealthy, that kind of stuff. I'd say yes.
Funny: also not much.
Nice: He's a criminal, but he does treat his fellow ship mates with respect.
In Danger: Not really, besides when the ship is attacked.
Loved by Friends and family: no, hasn't bonded much with the crew as of now.
Hardworking: ngl, he's kinda lazy. Laying around, playing poker. Will help if it's needed, and will put effort in when he does so, but he's lazy.
Obsessed: no.
Overall a 3/9. Not really a likeable character tbh.

‘ too much of a bio to fit here. call me Bananer for short, I’m one of the forum’s resident insane things. I’m a nongender Therian (look it up!) and also a silver dragon (not my kintype, just a me thing.) I’m a rogue and wizard, and if you want more info on me, PM me, or ask someone else. I’m well known.
So I tried making the Gravity Falls ARG thing. From what I can tell, it shouldn't be that hard to hide clues and stuff once I got ideas, but my main issue right now is that I'm basically the thread makers version of writers block. I don't know what clues or whatever to add. I don't really know what to add in general. I think I have 3 main options:
1. Just make the thread, and completely improvise as I go along.
2. Make general details, but then improvise clues now and then.
3. Think of every single detail before making the thread. Every. Single. One. (Probably not gonna do this one tbh)
I think personally option 2 sounds the best to me, but I wanted your opinions. Also, if other people want to help, I'm fine with working alone or with other people, so if you genuinely want to help then that's great but you don't have to if you don't want to.
