You are greeted by an army of servants, all dressed in fine, white robes and red turbans. They escort you, along with a troop of armored guards into the courtroom of the castle. There they announce you, your entourage, your city, your kingdom, and all your titles to the gathered nobles. All along the sides of the room are low tables that barely come up to your knees which are heavily laden with platters of brown rice and lamb meat, roasted goat, simmering soups, and dumplings flavored with exotic spices. Almost everything hear leaves a spicy taint on your tongue. Steaming pots of tea are ever present, as soon as one begins to lose its steam it is instantly replaced by a servant whose entire duty is to handle the boiling of the tea water.
Thick carpets covered in fantastic designs of soldiers slaying lions, Bisonboar hunts, raging elephants, dancing women, blooming flowers, twisting vines, and elegant birds cover certain sections of the floor, but there is not a single chair in the entire hall. Behind the carpeted dais is a detailed mosaic of an amalgamation of hands grasping arms grasping hands grasping arms with fingers intertwined in complex patterns.
The Tayr himself wades through the crowd, towering over almost anyone he passes by. His long black hair flows down his back and a short golden crown-band is bound around his forehead. He wears a maroon robe hemmed in gold and patterned with golden stars. Each newcomer is introduced to him personally and he thanks each guest for coming.
<Heh heh, missed this.>
Arpo, of course, walks right up to the Tayr and demands, "Where are the chairs?"
Prompting Bonde to immediately cut him off, saying, "Pardon my... acquaintance. He is a very straightforward man."
<blp>
Several of the other nobles look at your from where they are seated on the ground with disgust.
The Tayr smiles at you with such a friendly grin it must be fake. โMy people rarely use chairs. We have such soft and comfortable rugs that we have no need for anything else. It also saves wood which is a valuable resource in our scrub desert.โ
"What? You ran out of wo-"
Bonde smacks Arpo upside the head, silencing him.
"As I said, please excuse my fellow ambassador. When we held the election for representatives, I was elected to manage the agrarian side of our society, and Arpo was elected for the warfare side. If you wish, we could enter a trade deal, perhaps even an alliance? We have many great farms that grow food and wood alike, although they are being used for other purposes currently. We could supply you with wood, although I see you are doing well even without it."
"I think a trade deal would do nicely. We'd appreciate your timber and in return, we'll send our finest merchants with their wool, teas, dyes, and carpets."

"That's incredible to hear. During the winter months this land is blanketed in snow, but we don't have the water for a sea of ice. The wildlife must be quite formidable in such a harsh environment."
Arriving at the royal court alongside four guards in bronze-and-silver armor, whom remain outside the palace, is the Grand Architect Jeeves- A small, completely smooth bronze orb only the size of an orange, which inexplicably levitates about four feet off the ground as they drift around. They walk through the crowd of castle staff, greeting and thanking all of them with a voice that absolutely radiates warmth and kindness- in fact, even those who have never met them before feel an odd sense of comfort just by being near them. While they're absolutely content to strike up friendly conversation with anyone they meet, they are also keeping a nonexistent eye out for other major powers to befriend.
A noble woman approaches the orb. She has black hair pulled back in a long braid that falls over her shoulder. She wears a rich brown gown patterned with silver details and her arms are covered in silver bangles. She bows as she approaches you and says, "You are the Grand Architect Jeeves, are you not? I am Tsazona Bajir, head of the Bajir House. I'm delighted to have the chance to meet you." She seems to be a very serious woman, not one for careless talk or wasted time.
The orb lowers slightly in its hovering height for a moment- the closest approximation to bowing slightly it can make. "Indeed I am! I am pleased to make your acquaintance as well, Ms. Bajir." They respond with all the merriment and warmth in the world in their voice, which seems to be their normal tone of speaking.
"I have read your Book of Bronze and find it to be very fascinating, though that is not what I wish to speak on. Rather, it is your mining industry. I'm not mistaken in my understanding that your people dig deep tunnels into the earth?"
"No, you're not mistaken in the least. The Gladestone Mountains have an abundance of metals and other useful minerals like salt and marble, which we work to collect- some for our own use, some for trade." It explains, almost sounding a little... wistful? "At the moment, though, we haven't had many we're able to trade with. Why do you ask?"
โTrade isnโt of concern to me, itโs training. I have reason to believe that our land has a bounty of valuable resources beneath its soils. Unfortunately, it is against Hoebite tradition to go underground. Our people believe that when you die the Buzzard-Angels bear your soul into the heavens and so we do not bury our dead for that would prevent their souls from entering paradise. This gives them a fear of the underground and it is keeping our country from growing economically and in its access to important resources. Our economy has been destroyed by the need to purchase all our metals and stones from other countries. I would most appreciate it if we were able to come to an agreement that involved us gaining the resources in training needed to begin our own mining operations.โ
"I see... I would very much like to come to such an agreement as well. I can already think of one way we could solve the issue without breaking traditions- a pit quarry. A large pit dug into the earth, all exposed to the sky above: The people would have their stone and metal, and the Buzzard-Angels would have no difficulty carrying any souls there- everyone's happy. Perhaps we can construct a small mining town near the ideal dig site to kickstart the operation- I'd be happy to supply materials as needed, free of charge- and we can both profit from whatever treasures lay beneath the soil, though of course, you would have the lion's share. What do you say?"

*The only problem is I'm not at a wealth level to plant a new settlement. What if you covered the wealth cost and I covered the MP? If not, we could wait and I'll be able to start a new settlement on Saturday.*
She too seems delighted, but she keeps her excitement contained, "I'm glad too. The Tayr set me on this task and there has been little progress for a long while. I'll look over my findings and let you know as quickly as possible. There is one small snag though," She says with a pained expression, "Hoeb's economy... the last Tayr had some frivolous spending habits and the refusal to mine has cost us greatly. I do not believe we are in a position to meet the costs of starting a new settlement at this very moment. We are making progress though and I don't think it would be long before we could. Another option is that you cover the settlement costs and we provide the guards and workers. Our army is at a healthy size and I believe we could provide this new project with enough troops to maintain order and protect against invasion."
He nods slightly, "Yes, I've heard the rumors. If the opportunity arises than I will try to dissuade them from making an attack for it does seem to be a pointless endeavor."

"I think a trade deal would do nicely. We'd appreciate your timber and in return, we'll send our finest merchants with their wool, teas, dyes, and carpets."
*No that's Rhaogan I think.*
"That's incredible to hear. During the winter months this land is blanketed in snow, but we don't have the water for a sea of ice. The wildlife must be quite formidable in such a harsh environment."

She considers this, but her harsh seriousness seems to soften a little with pleasure, "That sounds magnificent! I have done several surveying trips and have a few locations in mind set between both of our kingdoms. A shared enterprise might be mutually advantageous." She thinks on it more. "I think the pit quarry is a great idea. Our people are much more likely to work where they can still see the sky."
*I'm trying to think, how would a shared settlement like this work? Would we split the benefits? Sounds pretty cool.*
"I would appreciate that. Also, *grimaces* I hate to ask this, but many other factions are discussing destroying Aggrotropica. If you have good relations with them, It would be wonderful if you somehow persuaded them to ease up on the military tension."

*It does sound pretty cool. Maybe we can split the MP cost of setting it up? I could recruit a troop of about 3 MP worth of soldiers later today and send them your way.*
They seem absolutely ecstatic. "Wonderful! I'm so very happy we could reach an agreement. Could you let me know when you decide a location to start the excavation so I know where to send the resources for construction to? I can also send a portion of the guard there to help keep trouble away while the settlement develops, if you want."

"We do indeed. There are many breeds of serpent and lion that prowl our lands. One of the most terrifying are the deathworms that slither beneath our sands. The bisonboar is a particularly fierce beast that are considered only to be the prey of kings. They would threaten the life of even one as large as you." He looks at you with narrowed eyes. "If you'd like and are up to the sport... we could go on a bisonboar hunt tomorrow. It would extend your stay by a day but if you're up to it..."
He nods slightly, "Yes, I've heard the rumors. If the opportunity arises than I will try to dissuade them from making an attack for it does seem to be a pointless endeavor."

"Much obliged. Is there any other trade materials you would need?"

He beams, "I'll be looking forward to it then! Eat your fill and rest well tonight for you will need your strength, my friend."
"Timber is the main resource we are lacking in, but feel free to send other merchants to my city. The buyer's in my bazaars will delight in exotic goods."
