The punishment is supposed to be confinement, not sadistic living conditions or violent guards.
Not that does aren’t for murders and such. More like for thieves.
true
I should note that the American prison system is the way it is because it's been borderline corporatized. The people who own the prisons get money for each person they have. As a company, they can lobby to get laws that get more people sent to prison. Because no one wants to hire an ex-con, they're basically forced back into crime to, you know, survive.
So basically, they need a lot of cells. A. Lot. Of. Cells. And they can't afford to furnish each one without it cutting into their fat paychecks.

Also very true, but I feel like not being able to get a job as an ex-con isn’t your own fault, unless you were wrongfully imprisoned, this is your punishment. But the prospect system should be changed, as well as the general justice system

Usually they just put a box on the application with nowhere to write what you actually did since they don't care.
It's binary: good person or free criminal. And no one wants a criminal in their company.

Which is honestly fair. I wouldn’t want a murderer in my company. I wouldn’t trust a thief very much. A conman might end up cutting corners and scamming customers. And a lot of people who choose to live a life of crime do so because they don’t have the necessary skills to work elsewhere. Though I have heard stories of people with criminal backgrounds uses the skills they gained from that in order to reverse engineer crimes

I mean, I can't disagree with what you're saying.
But not everyone who commits a crime is a career criminal. It's not whether you went to prison, it's whether you've been convicted of a crime ever. Shoplift once as a teen and you're branded for life, and after that if you lie about it you can be arrested for that.
Thanks for these comments, this might help me with my thesis :)
Don't take my word as gospel. Remember to do actual research, not just listening to folks on the internet.
I might be wrong, after all.
Himy would love that.
Well that’s just rude. I might be a sociopath, but I’m not a sadist.
Nah, you love watching me fall.
Don't you, my schmoopsy bear?
I rather you not call me that because that’s weird and makes me feel uncomfortable. But why do you think that? Honestly, it feels like you have more against me than I have against you. And if this is about the Jojo’s thing, I do that with quite literally every one. I get annoyed when I think about the stands Horus and White Album, because they have the same exact power, with a slightly different coat of paint and they shouldn’t. You could have just made it make thinks slippery, and you would have gotten essentially the same effect you got when you gave White Album cyrokinis

...So I had a dream last night. Fair warning, it's pretty... messed up.
So there was this kid. He was big, strong, imaginative, and had no filter. Like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes if he was also Susie from Deltarune. I'm not sure how old he was since he was always wearing this purple hoodie and rabbit mask. The dream was in a cartoony style, like Spooky Month. The kid drew a lot of killer robots and showed them off.
So as time went on, he revealed that his imagination was so strong that he often hallucinated dealing with his problems violently, such as bashing in his dad's skull with a rock, but he always regretted his actions when he snapped back to reality. Also of note is that we never actually see his parents.
The kid was constantly on drugs, some prescription, some that he bought from a unicorn that runs what I think was a tattoo parlor. I think this explains the hallucinations better than his imagination. So, anyway, the kid started seeing this little purple bunny everywhere: on the internet as a little AI companion, in the real world as a little creature. Eventually, the bunny loredumped to the kid:
The costume he was wearing? Yeah, the reason we never saw him take it off was because it was actually a suit of haunted springlock power armor designed to kill vegans, specifically PETA workers because they made a crappy FNAF clone one time and the fans of the real Freddy Fazbear's Pizza were angry, and the kid had basically been slowly dying over the entire dream, his organs failing and his bodily functions slowly ceasing. All his drawings were actually killer robots he had actually seen.
...the hell? What kind of dream is that?
Sounds like a perfectly normal dream to me.
Sounds to me like you're a FNaF fan that likes robots and those possibly merged together along with thoughts about mental health. Add in dream randomness and nothing is weird.
For that matter, in my dreams last night I think looking up barlguras along with other monsters I wanted to put into a random encounter table combined and decided to lead to a section of my dreams being about a family of gorillas that decided to take a nap right outside my house and then get violent. Had delightful fights against a male gorilla until I closed a door and locked him in my garage. Conversations with the kiddo gorilla, but uneasy because he could've fought at any moment. And when animal control came for some reason they only brought BB Guns (totally ineffective) and we learned the male gorilla in my garage had decided to climb into the attic and then into the main house, forcing us to flee as he tracked us down wherever we went.

Speaking of reverse engineering crimes, reminds me of the movie Catch Me If You Can.
It's based on the true story of a guy that did a lot of check fraud. And eventually after he was caught and in prison he started helping the FBI detect and investigate check fraud.
Otherwise I'm doin good, gonna play some prison architect after school
