Time travel has been invented, but it has been found living organisms cannot survive the trip and there is no way to return even if they could. As such, paleontologists and archeologists send drones to the past to record events or creatures they would have gone to see if they could. After recording, the drone would land and power off. Each of these drones are fitted with a GPS or other locator chip and battery that activate at the exact moment they were sent back in the first place. They are then dug up and have their memory chip, where their videos and pictures are located and protected, removed to be reviewed.
