It’s a July art challenge where multiple people join one of two teams and compete by doing redesigns of another person’s OC based on that days theme. As far as I understand.
Fun fact: In certain African cultures a river plant named an adwera is seen as a symbol of purity and sanctity while pangolins are often associated with good luck. Thus, by my logic, a pangolin like creature with an adwera shaped horn would be a cultural equivalent to a unicorn.
What do we call them, then? Pangdwera?
Well the most common language in Africa is Swahili. ‘Horned Pangolin’ in Swahili is ‘pangolini yenye pembe’. Shorten that and we get Pangoyenbe.
Beautiful.
That’s actually my naming convention for a lot of things. Mushisama is a combination of the Japanese words for bug and god.
Same, but with Latin.
I just use whichever language fits the general theme of the creature. Mushisama has Japanese because the pantheon he belongs to share elements with the Shinto religion.
Yeah, Umbraveth is Umbra meaning shadow and veth meaning seer.
I forget my exact words I used for most of my characters but I remember Cog in Cogintius is a root that meant knowledge, Somnium just straight up meant either dream or sleep I forgor, and my one guy on the JoJo's thread with the gun stand BIG SHOT had a name that just meant Second Amendment lol. Albeit I don't actually know Latin and Google Translate can be flimsy so they weren't necessarily exact, but I think it's a cool language.
