Many know the tales of the cursed. Lycanthropes sprout fangs when the moon is full, vampires are forced to hide from light, and beauty is stolen from those who declare themselves witches. However, some curses are more unique than others. The famous Wendigos, known for their insatiable cannibalistic appetite, form when a mortal succumbs to their inner vices. To their id and instincts, to the voice that pricks at the back of every men’s mind. When a men commits the one sin oh so many cultures deem inexcusable.
However, a Wendigo is only half of this curse. For every destructive and life-ending force the world creates, one of life soon follows. The insatiable deer spirit consumes the body and turns it into a weapon. But the soul? The soul ascends to another form. One which shields the cursed loved ones from the same mistake it once made.
An Ogidnew acts as a familial guardian, caring for the descendants of its previous form. In times of need, it forms for them, leading to sanctuary, food, and away from the Wendigo’s vices. However, it tries to keep these occurrences short, else its twin tracks it down and kills who they saved. A shield against its own claws, but a beacon for its snout. A protective light against an encroaching shadow.
May we all have an Ogidnew in our lives.

Today's NY Times' Connections game was interesting.
In case you're not familiar with, you're essentially trying to make groups of words that are connected with each other.
And one of their groupings made me die a little inside.
(spoilers in case you play it and don't want one of them solved for you)
In the grouping for "do exceptionally well" it had the normal ones like 'rock', 'rule', and 'slay.'
But then the 4th words was 'eat.'
It both perplexed and pained me.
First it pained me because as much as I love to use Gen-Alpha slang to inflict pain on others, unironic use of it kills me slightly. And here it was being codified in a NY Times puzzle.
Second, don't y'all use it in the past tense as 'ate'? Like, "Bro, you ATE that!" I don't see it getting used in the present tense like, "I'm 'boutta eat this."
If anything I see present-tense 'eat' as a failure. Like, "You're about to eat asphalt." before some kid tries a doomed-to-fail skateboard trick.

I made a character for my homebrew d&d setting, and she’s mainly known for being the richest mortal ever. Or well, she would be, but most scholars don’t believe for a single second that she’s mortal.
in reality, she’s wealth incarnate, a physical manifestation of opulence and decadence. One time, she crashed the economy of a small nation by herself because the King offended her. Most of the time, however, she freely gives to the poor and rich alike, because she has more money than the gods and could really care less.
she has a vaguely 1920s, Great Gatsby sort of aesthetic.

So I am perplexed and pained.
