Also, last night ran a modified Lightning Keep with friends. When i described them finding a room with blocky green creatures one was immediately like, "They're Minecraft Creepers aren't they." xD
And then I revealed a little more of the map and their tokens (having done the verbal description first) and he was like, "Wait I was right?"
Was a fun time. Upstairs they found the enderman and the cleric was like, "I look into its eyes to aggro it!" Then he got taken down in one punch xD.
(One of the barbarians, a more experienced player, was like, "Maybe we should talk strategy one of these days. You guys are kinda squishy." :p )'
We also got to have an epic fight. While Lightning Keep suggests there being a dragon as a looming background thing it says the dragon doesn't show up in the adventure. But I was like, "We're getting a dragon there." Started with a young white dragon as the base. Added a couple legendary resistances, legendary actions, and spells to it. (Did nerf breath from 10d8 to 7d8 after testing.)
Was an epic fight. One barbarian got a grappling hook attached to the dragon and then started climbing up the rope so he could get on top of it. The other had his newly acquired diamond sword and got some blows and fight in, taking a cold breath to the face in the process. (Thank goodness for him he was a Bear Totem.) The cleric realized he was holding the final of 6 lightning rods in his hands during the fight, got blasted by a cold breath, and then the druid carried on the task of trying to get that rod into its place to activate a magic shield.
During that process the druid got blasted down to literally 1 hit point. The barbarian that got on the dragon's back was knocked unconscious. And then the rogue got a CRITCAL HIT at the very moment all was seeming lost. (2 party members down, 1 at 1 hp. The two standing at very low health. [Plus a goblin that tagged along and was actually doing work with his shortbow. :O]) 6d6 + 3 piercing damage and the dragon is so low on hp it really needed to run away or risk dying.
It. Was. Awesome.
