Hi y'all! Currently trying to brainstorm ideas for a Feywild arc in my campaign that's starting in like a session or two (there'll be one mini downtime arc in between but I'm not sure how long they'll actually want to spend there)
Since the fey are inscrutable have there be a conflict over something incomprehensible to logic.
Like a generations-long blood feud over an acorn. Not because it has any power or anything or high gp value. But just because there's a pixie that wants *that* acorn and sprite that doesn't want to let them have it.
Exactly. Power-mad fey who want exactly what they want. It gets even funnier if they’re a foot tall and speak in squeaky voices.

Preparing for Christmas. Sometimes nice snow. And at church the choir has used O Come O Come Emmanuel for its entrance hymn in the past though it looks like they might be doing a different one this year.
As a fun fact it's traditionally a penitential season, though fasting is mostly the Eastern Rites these days.

O Come O Come Emmanuel is one of my favorite Christmas songs/hymns. Its very hard to describe the feeling it gives, its sort of sad, but sadness is too one dimensional to describe it. It feels like a winter evening, its dark and sad, but also comforting in a way Coventry Carol is also a really great carol/hymn thing
I really like Sufjan Stevens christmas work because he had multiple vocals going on in most song, which makes it reminiscent of a choir but more folk like in style. Personally I think the really official, perfect singing choirs that are like on Spotify often sound somewhat silly

I'll have to give it a listen. (bit late for me now)
I've also enjoyed Libera's Wexford Carol (I think that's the one from memory) as very good too.
Ran a session tonight. Things didn't go exactly as planned. ;p
Party is at a bake shop they cleared and then owned kinda by force. Some borg-inspired modronized humans show up. They have some chat; learn they mean business, and beat them easily. (Basic dudes.) Get told there's a place where they're coming from.
Party gets there. Now I'm thinking since they're borg-inspired with modrons turning humanoids into modronlike creatures that they can have that classic enter the tower and peace until they get aggressive. NOPE!
Aarakocra cleric is like, "I'm fighting those guys in the air." Well then goes rough. So the party is already taking a short rest before they even get into the tower.
First level is a bunch of modrons at work, they pass through. Goblin barbarian is trying to act like he's an inspector. (Mind you he doesn't have anything like their tech on him so it's obvious he's an outsider.) Party gets to the second level; sees a bunch of people in a cage. Barbarian ends up getting some scraps to put on him. Rolls a 6. So he *thinks* he made a good disguise. ;p There's a puzzle to unlock the door and go up now. Rogue tries something out; it don't work. The guards are like "It's murder time." Fight ensues.
Will be interesting how it goes on later. They've got three more levels to go.
Next level has the assimilation chambers. Level above that has some creatures imprisoned in a variation on Otiluke's Resilient Sphere. Got a couple vine blights there. (Their first fight was against two of those things which nearly merced them.) A gas spore but they're gonna be told it's a beholder. ;p Other stuff. Plus a red slaad that's responsible for a modron going cray cray and starting the borg.
And then final level has a final fight.
So it'll be interesting.
Also at the beginning the cleric was like, "Let's give them Cnuto." For reference Cnuto is a dragon weaboo who's super excited about the dragonborn druid in the party and has tagged along since the first adventure. Also, despite having 7hp and goblin statblocks, he really pulls more than his weight considering what you'd expect.

Dang, Vitus. You’ve gotta know — whenever you use the goblin stat block for something else, it’ll always carry the party.
All jokes aside, sounds fun. Reminds me of the joys of in-person D&D.

John Williams did carol of the bells for Home Alone, which is probably the most well known version. Duel Of Fates is also John Williams, its a Star Wars instrumental, I believe used notably in the fight between Darth Maul, Qui Gon, and Obi Wan

Advent is a good time of the year.

Ooh, I didn't know that stuff

Why do soooo many people hate this font :(
O Come O Come Emmanuel is one of my favorite Christmas songs/hymns. Its very hard to describe the feeling it gives, its sort of sad, but sadness is too one dimensional to describe it. It feels like a winter evening, its dark and sad, but also comforting in a way
Coventry Carol is also a really great carol/hymn thing
Specifically this version by Sufjan Stevens: Coventry Carol (Spotify) Coventry Carol (Youtube)
Also his version of O Come O Come Emmanuel: O Come O Come Emmanuel (Spotify) O Come O Come Emmanuel (Youtube)
