Looking at your signature, it reminded of something I read where by killing the spiders we see, we're putting selective pressure on spiders to become stealthier. In other words, we're creating Ninja Spiders.
Well, you're not wrong. The stealthier the spider, the more likely its chances for survival, and with it comes increased chances to reproduce. What we should be doing is taking them outside, thereby increasing the chances for more adaptable spiders to survive in environments they've never encountered, leading to spiders being adaptable enough not to need to come into the comfort of our homes.
That's another possibility. Unlikely that every one of them are going to follow it, but it could keep a good portion at bay. Though it still rewards stealth. Another possibility would be to line the entrances to our homes with peppermint, which is rather bothersome and potentially lethal to most spiders, and based on studies seems to deter around 75% of all spiders. Combine that with the fact that they'd have to get real close and personal to it to squeeze through those cracks under the doors and you've got a pretty good deterrent.
I use those ultrasonic thingamabobs and they seem to work for the most part.
Although I swear the spiders in the house have changed from when I was younger. They used to only be the little spindly ones. Now there's the thicker ones that are faster&uglier. It almost gives me nostalgia to see one of the spindly ones downstairs.
Random, but this makes me think of Augustus Caesar. Because in Civilization V one of his lines when trading sounds like "Why thank you." It's really some Latin phrase (I think) but the particular way the voice actor says it is stuck head.

I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)

Yep. Played Civ II as a kid, now V. Domination is my preferred path to victory. Although I do enjoy a good Venice game. What about you?

Indeed. About three months, based on the time in this part of the multiverse and the way of keeping it on this specific planet.

Hmmm, that would break the current understanding I have with the spiders: stay downstairs and away from me or die.

Yeah, makes sense. New ones have obtained new abilities that have made them more favorable, it seems.
