So I decided to try using ChatGPT to simulate a DnD fight between a lv1 life cleric and a goblin. It was painful...
On the first attempt the very first thing the level 1 cleric did was to cast the 2nd level spell spiritual weapon as a 1st level spell. Then, because that was only a bonus action, it used its action to cast guiding bolt for 20 radiant damage.
The fight continued! (nevermind the cleric had just done 20 damage to something with a max HP of 12)
The goblin slashed with its scimitar for a hit, the cleric used cure wounds and attacked (but missed) with spiritual weapon. The goblin makes another hit with the scimitar.
The cleric retaliates with Inflict Wounds (you know, that 3rd lv1 spell slot lv 1 clerics have...) It hits and does another 21 damage to the goblin. THE BATTLE STILL CONTINUES!!!
The goblin misses with its scimitar. And then the cleric hits with spiritual weapon for a critical to do another 13 damage.
Finally, only after taking 54 damage, does the goblin fall.

I correct ChatGPT that spiritual weapon is a lv2 spell and that you can't cast another levelled spell if you cast one with your bonus action. So ChatGPT gives it another go.
First round the cleric, which won initiative, casts guidance on itself and healing word. Leaving aside that it forgot the life cleric healing bonus I looked at that and was like, "Why are you casting healing word? You haven't even taken damage yet!?!?"
The goblin misses. The cleric then decides to dodge. (Why? I don't know.) The goblin then makes another scimitar attack which lands.
Round 3 comes. The cleric stops dodging/healing and casts sacred flame to deal 5 damage. Round 4 comes. The cleric hits the goblin with its mace for 7 damage. Round 5 comes. The cleric (maybe because this goblin seems immortal again?) decides to dodge. The goblin decides to bonus action disengage and then do nothing else.
(And yes. It totally missed the goblin had a turn in rounds 3 and 4. But don't worry. It's about to do it again.)
Round 6 comes. The cleric casts sacred flame but the goblin makes its throw. Round 7 comes. The cleric misses with its mace. Round 8 comes. The cleric thinks it's time for another dodge. Round 9 comes. The cleric casts sacred flame and gets another 4 damage on the goblin. Round 10 comes and the cleric hits the goblin with its mace for a critical hit dealing 8 bludgeoning damage. (the goblin is already as -4/12 hit points even it rolled max by this point.)
funnily enough, I use chat a lot, for all kinds of things. And the weird thing is, you may have noticed this too Vitus, but in some aspects it seems really bad at listening to what you say, which is supposed to be what it’s best at. One of its strengths lies in descriptions, not necessarily their detail or quality, but its speed and ability to just give you the gist. I often try to role play with gpt, but it normally goes badly, because it starts roleplaying as my character too, even though I tell it not to time and time again. So I like to try and make it give me an immersive experience, where it describes everything for me, and I just get to be a character. I’ve tried many different wordings, but it never listens, and starts describing what I do, against my will. I also find that it has trouble using accurate vocabulary for certain types of characters. If anyone has any ideas on how to get round this, I’m all ears
