The main character is a part of the main (socialist? Totalitarian dictatorship?) nation (run by humans) with advanced diesel technology (cause Dieselpunk) called the Workers' Republic of [insert name here], fighting a war against magic, believing it to be dangerous and uncontrollable. The main character is a lowly infantryman of the Workers' Army, who eventually is taken prisoner by the enemy but then learns how much better they are and joins their side (ik, definitely super original and never done before and not based on any fantasy or sci fi tropes at all lol, any ideas to make it more original?)
