Nice that it's a higher level, though in general I'm not as hyped up for the adventures. (Mainly the friend group I do DnD with started from Session1 as a homebrew world we made together. Though I am looking forward to some of the other guys' campaigns when the DMing slot shifts to them.)

Heh. Everyone in my IRL friendgroup wants to DM, but since we can’t have five sessions each week we have to compromise. It’s probably for the best — if everyone DMed whenever they wanted, the snacking cost would likely be outrageous.

I had this idea for a fey monster called a Whatsit. It feeds off of confusion and acts nearly unpredictably until it’s sated. It can create illusions, change people’s voices and warp reflections, and other fun stuff. They were bred to be guard animals. They would be like the second domesticated and absolutely insane fey monster i’ve made, the other being Peeves: dog/ape like creatures that hunt and eat annoying people, bred for that purpose.
now I need y’all’s help because the whatsit needs a physical appearance and I’m stumped.
Hm. What if their pure form is that of a shapeless quadruped, but they change to reflect the environment around them? Eg. a Whatsit in the jungle looks like a tangled mess of vines and roots, and a Whatsit in the arctic looks like a shabby dog-shaped creature made of snow?
It’s not a great idea, to be honest. I’m just spitballing. Cool monster concept though.

I actually kinda like that! I might make it so that truesight reveals them to be some sort of unholy mix between a wolf version of Porygon and that one character from amazing digital circus that’s just a bunch of shapes put together, but I like the idea that they change for their environment.
