O sorrow, I have ended, you see, by respecting you, because I am certain you will never leave me.
Ah! I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being. You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart.
O my sorrow, you are better than a well-beloved: because I know that on the day of my final agony, you will be there, lying in my sheets, O sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart.
So I was reading a little thread with people's opinions on the worst subclass.
Saw a few referring to Purple Dragon Knight and was like, "hehe, that must be a joke homebrew, there's no way that's a real class name."
I was wrong. It's real.
And reading through it I see why they say it since its early feature are fairly lackluster, at least IMO.
I knew it existed but I don't think I have ever seen anybody play it.
For me I do tend to prefer casters over fighters. (Although Eldritch Knight and Battlemaster are attractive since they add additional options.)
I usually play casters because if I didn't our parties would be without magic or healing. I would like to try some more fighters at some point though. I have played several monks and I love them.
What's a good monk subclass in your opinion? I know I love the flavor of a 4-Elements but key cost seems too high to do much.

Speaking of cost 1 thing I hate about ddb everything fun being locked behind a paywall. I get the need to monetize it but like all the fun and sometimes necessary things are paywalled

Four elements definitely could be improved. I have played a Mercy and an Astral Monk and both were fun. The Mercy monk has some healing but I don't think the healing was really worth the cost. It was still fun to roleplay though.
Nvm. I unconsciously finished it all ig, cuz it’s all done…?

What kind of stats do you look at when playing monk? Big thing to me is knowing it needs both the DEX and WIS plus CON to get the Save DCs and AC up without falling behind on attack bonuses.

Dexterity and Wisdom for sure. Most monks want to max out Dex before anything else but Astral Self Monks are actually made to be maxed out in Wisdom. That's one of the cool things about them. It makes for an oddly built character but it makes your ki ability much more effective.
One thing to know about monks, never multiclass. Dipping into a few levels of monk is fine but never try to sample other classes while remaining focused on the monk class.
Also it's weird reading discussions about worst subclasses and seeing "Hunter for Ranger" and "Undying for Warlock" when Bel, my Aarakocra Hunter Ranger, and Veneficus, my friends Fallen Aasimar Undying Warlock, were two of the first characters we made. (Though I think the Veneficus guy did have a different type of warlock in a different campaign.)
So spend your hours on What you think I've done wrong I know I'm in your mind I've been here way too long I want to spend my life With those who've done me right Your heart is frozen over I'm a four-leaf clover

I guess I was thinking more if you roll them when doing standar array / point-buy or if you use it when rolling for stats and getting nice ones.
Haven't played any multiclassed characters yet. Got an EK / Evo Wizard concept in mind. But haven't used him. Generally when planning builds I'm like, "Oh one more level for this neat bonus. Oh another bonus in a couple levels. I could multiclass at this, but then I lose out on an ASI. Oh since we already took the ASI we're close to another cool feature!"

I pretty much always use standard array when I have the choice.
That's exactly how I think about multiclassing. I am playng a Lore Bard/Clockwork Soul Sorcerer but that was because there wasn't anything left that I wanted from the Lore Bard that I couldn't get from the sorcerer.
I made the mistake of multiclassing my first real character, the Mercy Monk, into Divine Soul Sorcerer. I did it because it fit the story of the campaign really well, but it didn't help my character at all.

Alrighty. Wasn't sure how well a MAD class did on SA so was curious.
And yeah it's interesting the different takes on multiclasses.
Group 1: I never multiclass. I want my single-class features.
Group 2: I always multiclass. When you mix the Hexblade, Sorcerer, Paladin with just the right amount of science...
Group 3: I never multiclass. Too complicated.
Group 4: I always multiclass. Let's be ABSERD!
Group 5: I never multiclass. How do I explain my warlock suddenly discovered he has dragon heritage? The description literally says you have dragon scales his WIS isn't even negative!
Group 6: My fighter just adopted a dog. Time to take a level in druid to show he loves animals! He has 7 WIS but DM waved multiclass requirements!
Group 7: *checks phone* Yep. *sighs* Sessions got cancelled... again.

Speaking of cost 1 thing I hate about ddb everything fun being locked behind a paywall. I get the need to monetize it but like all the fun and sometimes necessary things are paywalled
I just dont use it for anything but the forums. All the info is free online (though I have several books) so really creating any character is free without dnd Beyond.

Yes but without the book it’s a pain to deal with. For example in an rp thread I’m playing a diviner wizard without a sourcebook so I have to go back and forth to look at features that I get
