For the amazing world of gumball, I’d think it’s probably both at once. That show is a fever dream where basically anything can happen. At one point the main character’s sister turns into a parasite that leeches off of school students by befriending them and then fusing with them. That show is body horror, for kids!

Speaking of insanely cursed animated shows, all hail king Julian. Have you heard of all hail king Julian? If Amazing world of Gumball is body horror, all hail king Julian is eldritch horror. Of course, both of them play it off mostly as comedy, but one of the main characters (a talking mouse lemur) talks about how they are apparently at least 50 years old, they’re their own grandfather, their father was a bear, he buried his grandmother in a well, and how he has had eleven wives. (All of which are dead)

The funniest part of any episode in my opinion is probably the my favorite things parody that Mrs. Robinson sings.
