Question: would ddb forums count as social media? I know somebody's probably asked this before in a forum but I wanted to hear it from you all.
As a noun, social media is, "websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking." I would say that throws us in with it, especially cause of the sharing part! I don't see it as a bad thing though. Its a social outlet, and a community, which is what a lot of social media consists of.

Focusing on the last two sentences-- my parents don't really approve of me having social media. They don't know of me existing on here yet, but if they do find out, there's a chance I might have to leave ddb.
Though in my opinion, there isn't really any mean or dumb people on this site-- partly because the forums aren't as popular as say TikTok or something.

We’ll miss you if you have to go, Gibber. But everyone takes a break from here for a while.

Its one of the nicest communities I've found, just because of the people, and like you say, because its not crazy popular. Social media is a necessary part of life at this point, especially for teens and young adults. Especially if you're nerds like us lmao, its great to have people to share and talk with.
My parent doesn't particularly like social media, but he's aware that its around and limiting us won't do anything in the long run. He encourages me to use ddb, as he knows I love it and its full of nice people, and that its better than most alternatives. This is a good, safe place to share our interests in dnd, it is social media, but without the bad aspects and stereotypes.

Heya everyone! I'm EJO, DDB's resident immortal rat who appears randomly roughly once every week.
I'm not active much, but always up to talk when I am.
I'm known as CptKurn nearly everywhere but here.
From 5:00 to 7:30 pretty much every day I'm playing either Overwatch, Dead by Daylight or Stellaris
Do not ask me about anything I like because I WILL waffle on for half an hour.
I'm British so I'm not active at the same time as most of y'all

True, they were very likely to just be focusing on the more popular ones, and I haven't seen anything on here that provokes a reason I should leave.

Try t if you wan't though. I'd personally recommend horseshoes, hot dogs and hand grenades if you're a gun nerd like me.
