I’ve been playing a lot of one of the games I recently got on steam after getting a PC, as well as practicing for my musical theatre class on a song. I also managed to switch classes from dance to drama!

What's the game you're playing? And huzzah that the dance -> drama is official! For the musical theatre class, I remember you also mentioned you were learning songs you could audition on. What kind of thing makes a song good/bad to audition with?

its total war: Warhammer 3. It takes place in the world of Warhammer fantasy (because the more popular version of Warhammer is sci fi and I’m not a big fan of sci fi) and it’s a tactical turn based strategy war game with lots of fun factions and giant battles with actual armies, it’s awesome. There are hundreds of factions, but the one that I’m playing as to start are the vampire counts of Sylvania, lead by the married couple Isabella and Vlad Von Carstein. I’m taking over the human empire, which is surprisingly easy because vampires have this fun faction ability of being able to raise the dead and basically print armies in a single turn instead of training them like normal armies. It’s very fun.
a good song is one that would show your strengths when it comes to acting and singing, and also one that is, you know, from a broadway musical, since broadway is practically its own genre of music, it’s important to audition with a song from a broadway-esque musical. Also, usually you want to use older songs, although that’s just the preference of some of my teachers, and using more relevant, new songs is somewhat seen as unprofessional, I guess? Mostly just nothing big and new like Hamilton, Six, or beetlejuice. I’m doing Consider Yourself from Oliver.

Guess it makes sense why to go with older songs. Probably roots you in their mind as "I like Broadway as a whole and its history, not just pop-culture phenomenons of today." Took a listen to Consider Yourself from the movie. Noticed there were some back-and-forths (not sure how it is in the Broadway) so now a bit curious if there's any special way of doing those as a solo.
It is very fun. The fun part about the Vampire Counts of Sylvania is that, most factions have one leader, ‘legendary lord,’ which you start with and is an extremely powerful unit as well as the leader of the faction, but Sylvania has two. You choose one of them and you get the second one as a less powerful, non legendary lord. I chose Isabella von Carstein as my leader because she’s a powerful spellcaster. Also, Isabella and Vlad Von Carstein are the only healthy relationship in the entirety of the game’s lore, and they’re both undead monsters.
the broadway version of Consider yourself has some back and forth too, but you usually would just sing it as if it was one person, since the lyrics work either way for Consider Yourself.
