Dang, it is so hard for me to start a conversation on this thread
LCW has ups and downs. There’s always good conversation starters, I find that generally a question for everyone to answer and discuss does really well.
here’s a couple that might be effective:
1. Do you believe in ghosts?
2. How do you feel about smart houses/homes? (Houses that have stuff like remote controlled features and just have a lot of extra technology in them)
3. Should humans try to increase the average lifespan? Is it wrong for us to use advanced technology to live for as long as we can?
1. In general I'm skeptic of the vast majority of ghost cases. When I was a toddler I remember one night seeing like a white-outline of a man walking towards me. (So hid under the blanket and slept on the chair that night.) But it's quite reasonable to believe toddler mind played tricks.
I will say one theological take on ghosts that intrigues me is the idea that it might be part of a soul's Purgatory for one reason or another. And I am partial the idea of perhaps running a quest/campaign/etc. where the party meets a ghost in the runes of an ancient city and that ghost is of a king that had excessive pride and self-importance of the city he built so seeing it in ruins and slowly decay beyond all recognition is how he's letting go of his attachment to that pride.
2. I don't like smart homes. I've seen the videos of hackers doing stuff and it just creeps me out. I feel more secure with a 'dumb' home.
3. Yeah. Promoting the health of others is good. I do think there are some limits. Like extending lifespan is not an absolute value so brains-in-jars would be going too far for example. (And even now there's certainly cases where I believe it's moral to end life support.) But I do find it to be a good pursuit.

I agree with you on the smart home thing. I've seen firsthand some of the tools that are publicly accessible and they are scary.

Here’s one. Do you think, if aliens exist, our sun could be a part of their ‘constellations’?
I think not. I think we live too far away from anything smart, cus the closest nearly confirmed traces of life has cells, and then there is the moon called Europa, that we think has life under an ICE SHEET. So nah prbly not. Of course any of the others in our system could have them.
