My characters wild magic powers were dampened in her youth due to a pact struck between her parents and a fiend but as she has aged they have come to the fore along with a few powers stolen from the patron in the process. I debated whether I should have forgone the warlock powers and treat this as story over mechanical benefits but think I like the story of the patron losing power to her not of its free will. Id also like to have the dm grant me the appearance (not use of) the imp from the pact of the chain. A spy for the patron on this plain who will change its allegiance when she goes to warlock 3 to her. That could open up some roleplaying especially as the deal brokered isnt with her anyway. This would play into her understanding that SHE controls the power within.
I think she probably is scared of her own power but at Im not sure whether to play her as a naive scared character or one who is recognising that she is (at least partially) a woman of power. Originally inspired by the idea of part Jedi, part Elsa, part Scarlet Witch/Jean Grey/Illyana RasputinI was going to have her part Reese (Stargate) and have her make tiny spiders for use with animate objects but best leave that for another build i think.
Currently Building for Level 6 (4 Sorcerer / 2 Warlock) but given where i would like to be at 12 (10 Sorcerer / 2 Warlock) i want to build with those spells in mind too. You dont realise how limiting the spells known is until you start selecting them especially given how many are Concentration. Suggestion, Greater Invisibility and Polymorph, fear all have appeal.
Race: a tiefling (subtle physical features, a result of the pact perhaps?), or A human (resilient Dex?, lucky?), even a Drow with high magic?
Invocations: I intend to use E.Blast as a 'uncontrolled' magical outburst when i dont have anything else to do so Repelling Blast might be good to add. But for my 2nd I'm not sure.
Metamagic: Subtle and maybe Twinned (a surge of power).
What i want is help fleshing out backstory, race and spells, to really nail down the plan when she gets put into play (my current character will likely be retired soon).
Thematically, do you want to be a human or Tiefling? A fiendish bloodline is well represented by Tiefling, but that can also be covered by being a sorcerer / warlock.
Mechanically, Tiefling is great because it grants +2 Charisma. I would go with one of the variants that grants +1 Dex or Con (Dispater, Glasya, or Levistus), though a Fierna Tiefling gets use of Suggestion at level 5, which helps with knowing all the spells you want.
For abilities, Agonizing Blast is a must have invocation if you plan on blasting a lot. I have found repelling blast to be a bit less useful since it can also push enemies away from party members who want to be in melee with it. I would pick Armor of Shadows as the second invocation (free magic armor)
The patron who struck the deal was a bit too eager/chaotic and didn't forge the pact correctly, as your character aged she siphoned off more and more power, weakening the patron and giving her wild magic bursts more frequently. You could always look cosmetically human, the change in stats/abilities you get form being teifling are just a side effect of the wild magic.
Warlock wise:
As Houligan noted above for invocations Agonizing Blast and Armour of Shadows would be useful but Mask of Many Faces could be interesting combined with the Abyssal Teifling random spells, maybe you have no control over the mask so when you gain your spells your appearance changes and you have to concentrate to revert back to your normal form or change into other masks.
Also worth thinking about taking Chill Touch among the cantrips, its good against undead and regenerating creatures and you cannot use the twin spell meta magic with eldritch blast
**EDIT**
Thinking about it if you are not that fussed about warlock invocations you could just go variant human and start with Magic Initiate: Warlock or spell sniper to get Eldritch Blast then go straight Sorcerer
Those few extra spells known and replenishing spell slots are too hard to resist...those numbers are sooo tight that one missing spell at a crucial time.....well it would suck!

Your assistance would be appreciated.

For a more chaotic role....What about going abyssal Tiefling from Unearthed Arcana? you lose out on hellish resistance/infernal heritage but gain some random spell each day and extra hit points, link here: https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/07_UA_That_Old_Black_Magic.pdf
