"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
I mean, it'd be nice to be strong and ripped, or clever and quick, or command arcane power, but there's no satisfaction I can imagine that would be greater than knowing that GOD HIMSELF trusts you enough to grant you powers over a domain of creation..
My "career" never fully committed itself to one profession, but each professional move I made actually did build off of prior steps skill sets. I've done a mix of figuring out how things and systems work, sometimes surreptitiously, and delivering my understanding in a way that inspires others to take action or pursue my recommendations. Since I like what I've done, I figured I'd try to translate what works into D&D and I'd say I'm probably a Bard/Rogue multi class, ten years ago an even split, but these days definitely heavier on the Bard side of things, it's too cold to perch on rooftops at night, not good for the bones.
Why was the survey limited to the Old School classes?

I'm a wizard. I'm pretty intelligent (I hope), decently dexterous, and I have a high pain threshold. I'm very socially awkward, though.

A significant number of my character backgrounds are medieval custodes - who were essentially janitors for religious groups in those days (singular: custos). That should tell you right there where I'd likely prefer to be - a simple life that everyone ignores if not outright avoids. (Post-medieval/modern custodes have a much more dignified role... kinda.)

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
I know the appeal of magic both for power and for everyday utility. But I am considering it would be years upon years of frustratingly hard study before even a cantrip. Therefore I go with Rogue.
Clerics are incredibly powerful in 5e, so it's not exactly a contest (but wizards can cast wish at 17th level you say, well name at least twenty wizards who got to level 17)
...
I forgot to add “would you choose” instead of which class would lol

Why am I one of the two people who chose rogue?
I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
I would go Wizard. I don't have the physical aptitude for fighter or rogue, and my intellect is superior to my intuition.

Fighter i think. If not that perhaps ranger?
Wizard, or Cleric of the options given. Sorcerer or Artificer for others.
Out of those options, Rogue. (Otherwise Bard or Artificer in that order.)
