The PHB states Dueling Fighting Style is this:
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Can you then use this style with a shield, and also gain the bonus since the shield is not a weapon in the other hand?
Yes, this is generally the go-to choice for sword and board fighters unless you want to play more defensively.
My homebrew subclasses (full list here) (Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer (Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist(Warlock) The Swarm
Thanks. I just wanted to be sure...
