Okay, the new Unearthed Arcana with the Spirit Bard and Undead Warlock subclasses has come out. These are both flavorful subclasses that inspire many character ideas for me, which I will share later in the thread. Now, what are yours? I would be very happy if people would post character ideas using these UA. They have such cool themes, and I want to know your thoughts.

I'm trying to think of a death cleric warlock build. Lots of necrotic damage and synergy. I might see about playing it in a new campaign that starts at level 6, I am thinking 5 death cleric 1 warlock for now. then you go full warlock. You miss out on the 2nd channel divinity but you get 5th level cleric spells. Then you just go warlock for all the other cool abilities. I also want some more support abilities than warlock offers.
That undead: it's what the undying should be. I love both of them, and they actually synergize well with each other. But a spirit bard and phantom rogue makes the Voodoo man from the princess and the frog. This is an amazing UA.

I've had an amazing idea: the college of spirits is all about the past, right? Well, imagine a bard themed for Halloween or Christmas, who collects the stories of that time, and then spreads them for all to hear. I also think that has been sent by the gods (aasimar) to tell the world of the god. Maybe a bit of cleric?

And then give it the Haunted One background for the theme.
I wish I remembered that. Amazing. Officially made the scariest character ever. A Hollow One Fallen Aasimar Conquest Paladin/Undead Warlock with a blade that sucks the life out of those they slay, whose background haunts them. Next, you just need this person to team up with Vecna, maybe become a Death Knight if possible.

I was thinking Stand-Up Comedy as a career.
Yeah, with like a lot of pet cats.

If anyone's familiar with FF14, flavoring the College of Spirits to be themed around astrology and the tarot deck seems like a close approximation to the Astrologian's class fantasy. Reading fortunes and the stars to grant buffs to allies and all that. It's certainly not a perfect fit, but I thought of Urianger while reading through it. Pretty easy when the subclass screams 'fortune teller.'
I honestly can't wait for DnDBeyond integration. The 14th level feature - being able to roll Spirit Tales 1-6 for free - sounds especially exciting. Each of those six effects are either useful buffs (pack tactics, thp, teleport, revenge attack), damage or healing. If you can't take more useful action in a fight, spending your turn drawing and spending a Spirit Tale is a good plan B.
As for the Undead patron, I don't have any particular ideas. I like being able to theme your damage type kind of like the Scribe is able to, but the subclass features just seem to encourage more Eldritch Blast/Blade Pact. Maybe I'm just not into Death Knights!
I think with Undead, you’re looking at a Ghost Rider looking character. Bladelock, wielding a whip. Get him on his Phantom Steed. Could even say his patron is a flameskull who values the character’s limbs and more or less possesses the character when in Form of Dread, vicariously enjoying hurting people using arms and legs.
I'm doubling down on the recent UAs and rolled up a Lizard Folk Path of the Beast Barbarian / Undead Warlock (pact of the blade) with the Haunted One background... a little MAD, and far from optimal, but RP for days, and really digging it.
I got it: yone from League of legends. The undead is annoying in that you have to give up 14 levels of a martial class to let out your soul, but it fits the theme quite well. I would like to go for some rogue, but fighter could work as well. Maybe dipping away from normal yone, but arcane archer fighter is also fun. I don't know, I'm obsessed with League.

Working on a tiefling bard with the new Spirit Bard subclass...
Folly, the tiefling bard with the "Charlatan" background...
Tells fortunes with his deck of marked Cards, using Expertise in Sleight of Hand to rig fortunes with his patrons...until he begins to have actual visions through his dreams.

I actually like the Undying Warlock, conceptually. Its abilities are cool, they're just underpowered. Undead is more offensive-oriented, while Undying is more for defense.

Maybe also make it a Hollow One. Try to get a Nine-Lives Stealer/Vorpal Sword.

I think that combo is very strong. Being able to fear while attacking is so good.
