Description
Ogres are hulking giants notorious for their quick tempers. When its rage is incited, an ogre lashes out in a frustrated tantrum until it runs out of objects or creatures to smash.
How tall is an ogre and how tall is a Dretch and how tall is a n Azer and how tall is a quaist
I mean, an Ogre's size is *LARGE*, not Giant -- he is roughly the same size as a Half-Orc, not on-par with an actual giant. A fair bit taller than a human, but not so much so that his reach should double.
Dude. A half-orc is size medium. A GOLIATH is size medium. An ogre is about 10 feet tall and WIDE, saying it's about the same size as a Half-Orc is like saying I'm the same size as the rock, and I'm only 5'6". But anyway, considering it takes up a 10x10 ft square, around which its attack range is wrapped, its actual threat range is about 7.5 ft from its center, and is nearly as large an area as a medium creature with a 10 ft reach weapon.
Around 10 feet, 4 feet, 5 feet, and 1-2 feet.
BTW you asked that on my 26th birthday. Also all you have to do is google "dretch height" and it will pop right up, it's incredibly easy to look that stuff up, took me less than 2 minutes.
Hi MTG

Cool
Then give him reach..... As stated in DMG. The rules are guidelines. Not written in stone. As DM you can alter everything. If a creature "should have" reach... Give it. Noone is stopping you.
Specially when you play with veterans, they will be surprised when a monster is different than they expect. When a Ogre does have 10ft reach and has a reach weapon so he has 15 ft reach. Go for it. Seems quite logical.
As long as you can make it work for the party and make logical houserules. Then do so
Because they stupidd
not really most melee weapons also have a 5 foot Reaches so it doesn't hurt much.
In Descent Into Avernus you can find an ogre wearing the circlet of intellect
Regarding Legendary Stupidity, I thought ogres only had four digits per hand, which would mean the reason they can't count to ten is simply because their number system is base 8. But no, if you look at the illustration closely, you will see the 5th digit on the ogre's left hand. They have all the digits they need and they still can't do it.
ye, should be at least 10
Just met them, nearly died
Good point
Note: DO NOT use this against a party that's only level 1-3. They will likely get one-shot or very, very close to it, and don't do enough damage to kill it before most if not all of the party goes down. Even if they survive, there may only be the ones with the very most hp, and even then it might be by only a few points. Any level after that, especially level 4-6 with one or two extra ogres, works really well, assuming you mold the encounter around your players, rewarding them for their creativity and cunning and posing a proper challenge even with simple hit-trading and little to no thought.
I thought NPC stat blocks like this describing a generic member of a race/species/ancestry were supposed to be retconned to have the "typically" word in it so that game/Dungeon Masters would remember that they're not fixed alignments? Shouldn't this stat block say "Typically Chaotic Evil" now instead of just "Chaotic Evil" to match with the "creature evolutions?"
An interesting idea:
An ogre accidentally finds a tome of clear thought, and by unknowingly attempting to read, "studies the book's contents and practices its guidelines" over the allotted time frame, therefore gaining its benefits. With this new knowledge, he seeks out a challenge and wants to atone for his past violence, and so becomes an actual DnD class (your choice). Through this, he "levels up" a few times, gaining more intelligence and bringing him up to acceptable parameters for that intelligence.
I just really want an intelligent ogre with class features bro
They could just kill someone for their stuff
