Considering I only buy the physical stuff (I'm not a snob, I just find I don't actually read them when they're digital), there's nothing for me.
Even take into account physical and digital bundles, me being in Canada means I'd pay like 2x to 3x compared to regular retail price if I bought the books local and then bought the digital myself.
I look at the prices for these sales, and the content I'd get, and it just doesn't provide enough value. I can get an absolutely massive amount of content from 3rd party for a fraction of the cost, and feel the content was complete and thorough without me just having to make stuff up. I can make stuff up on my own for free.
I'm heading back to brick and mortar stores.
They give the beginners guide for free but you're asking for a store to give away merchandise for free literally none of the vtt's do that.
My understanding is that DnD Beyond isn't run by WOTC. The DnD name is licensed to a 3rd party.
That was true until May 2022 when Hasbro acquired D&D Beyond and transferred it to Wizards of the Coast, a division of Hasbro. Which should also explain why the sales have been an absolute joke since then.
All i see is everyone complaining be happy they have any sales ffs
Hope Cyber Monday has the real sale because currently the sale they have is trash, if not I'll continue to wait for a good sale to buy.
The Basic Rules provide quite a bit already.
Well said.
Next thing we know, we're getting a battle pass...
Agreed.. perhaps a subscription to the material for DMs and players alike who are regularly involved.. I absolutely love the app.. for years graph paper served us all very well indeed.. now in the age of information it is nice to have each person download the app, have their own character sheet, dice, notes etc with respect to our environment!
A one time all access payment OR a regular monthly subscription to all books plus the latest updates. I still LOVE my hard copies.. until recently I even still had my very first D&D DM Guide, MM, PH and a ton of PMGs plus figures out the wazoo!
Would be nice to see a resurgence of figures and RWMs to use.. I can't remember the company off hand but they hit the nail on the head with the way they made RWMs just the price was sooooo high!
Oh yeah, but what would be the difference between the two? One big payment for everything all upfront, or a monthly payment that you have to pay to get everything? Still like the idea, though.
Or at the very least, if I have a physical copy of the 5e manuals/books, I should be able to redeem that UPC for the digital version too
That should absolutely be a thing. But WOTC will never do it. That would be good customer service that would "cost them money"
We should also get the updated versions of the core books free if we own the 2014 version. But that also wont happen
Yeah, this is pretty disappointing. Here's to hoping Monday is better, but at this rate, it seems like my library is going to stay stagnant. There's always that "well, the business can charge whatever they want" balancing with "hmmm, I don't want to pay that..."
Hopefully, we'll see this tip more to the latter and get some action out of the company.
I mean they are literally the products dnd sells. They make most of the money off of the books, it makes no sense to give them away for free. Its not a videogame where they can give you the gameplay for free but then sell cosmetics lol.
So far I have seen no difference for the "exclusive" cyber Monday deals
Are yall actually serious with Bigby being 3 dollars cheaper. I get its new but why hype it up to be on Monday when it was a 3 dollar discount?
Completely agree with you also their whole banner that was saying up to 50% off, but everything is either 10/15% off or maybe 40% witch was the highest.
Waited until Monday to check out the final sale. Nothing changed.....literally the legendary bundle is the same exact price pre-monday. Is this a sick joke? False advertisement does even BEGIN to describe what you guys are pulling right now. I will check one more time before Monday ends to see if perhaps I checked to soon, jumping the gun if you will. . . but something in my gut tells me thats not the case.
