This is the website of D&D Beyond, Wizards of the Coast, a company that provides these books and this content to us. I'm pretty sure you've never heard of a company that can keep their business up, by offering their services for free. And they are not a non-profit company that does it out of good will, and just to cover their expenses. They actually want to make a living out of it, and possibly even grow and instead of making a living, make a fortune.
Post incorrectly lists 28 Nov at 11:59 as end of sale. Other email promotions listed 11:59 on 27 Nov. It caused me confusion; probably for some others also.
I wonder if when they compare yesterday to previous years how much potential revenue they lost from lackluster deals.
Zyroheckleson is visionary.
why complain if you don't buy it what ever but if you want it buy it if you don't have enough then try to get it if you miss the sale get it next time it comes out
I think the issue mainly is the hyping up , I don't mind purchasing books I just feel that it was a rug pull on expectations. Especially with other sales being way better and the new core books coming out next year. Would have been a great time to make the current phb dirt cheap.
Complain because corporations will jump through hoops to justify their actions and explain away the actions of their customers. It’s much harder to sell a lie when people are vocal about the truth.
Obviously they want to make money, and thats fine. But lets not defend the practices of the multibillion dollar company too hard.
Nobody is starving because hasbro/wotc has a sale on books.
I like how sales can end at 11:59pm PST, but content we've purchased can't be made available until well into the following morning. Odd how the limitations change when it's stopping a sale vs. releasing a product on time. Especially when I used to be able to wake up in the morning before work and read new releases.
It shouldn't be ALL the resources are free, after allthe company needs to make $$ to stay in business but I do agree with you, full PHBs should b free.
Once we get started in it, well always buy more
The basic rules are FREE, which gives you some of the races and classes at no cost. Everything else has a price.
When the price for ALL the books was $16.99 each with the legendary bundle just last year (and the year before that), compared to the $3 discount on only some of the books WotC offered this year since taking over D&D Beyond (not to mention them completely withdrawing the discounts on the bundles), it's very understandable why people are frustrated. In general, customers don't like being financially extorted by predatory sales strategies and it's not unreasonable for them to point that out. Especially when considering we're now at the end of the 5th Edition product cycle and are expected to purchase an entirely new set of books in a just couple months time. Some people just don't enjoy being treated like they're walking wallets by multi-billion dollar companies and it's incredibly fair of them to voice that opinion.
I really think at least 1 of the 3 main books should be free if you subscribe its bs that at least the players handbook isn't free
Lol at the oversimplified bootstraps CEO fallacy. Basic no-cap greed based economics.
I was really excited for this sale until I realized everything on sale was what I had already bought. Hopefully something will give on the next one. Maybe they start releasing physicals with web access? (I CAN DREAM!!).
