The public beta for digital dice launched yesterday on D&D Beyond, and thousands of fans have already rolled millions of times to see that first "20" land on their screens.
The D&D Beyond team has taken the task seriously of helping people across the world play games and connect with one another during the unprecedented times of this pandemic. Knowing that we can bring even the smallest amount of joy in the midst our global situation provides a real sense of purpose, and we appreciate the reports of happiness brought about by these pixels bouncing across your character sheets more than you know.
Starting today, you will be able to unlock new dice sets for your collection, including the colorful 'Pigment Pack' and a fully-animated 'Mythic Set.' You can check out both in the Marketplace. There will be plenty more where they came from in the days ahead.
We are also acutely aware of recent events that call into stark focus the systemic racial injustice that continues to exist in the world. We understand that messaging from companies often lands hollow without action, and we do not wish to remain silent in the face of this. For the next week (through June 9th), D&D Beyond will donate 50% of all proceeds from digital dice sets to the Black Lives Matter movement.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community against racism, discrimination, and senseless acts of violence.
Thanks for supporting BLM.
Can I ask when there would be something announced to address Mike Mearls case?
Honestly, some of the 'gatekeeping' on here is just horrible, people saying that you're only allowed to play D&D if you have a certain political stance.
Personally I think virtual dice are too expensive for what they are, but that's me.
Taking an overly political stance was always going to be controversial considering how polarised people are with everything that's going on.
But please let's not call from the removal of players from the game because they have different views than yours.
What do mean about Mike?
Mike Mearls doesn't work at D&D Beyond, so... Not sure why you're asking them.
Fandom's a private company. It doesn't have stockholders. I think they'll be fine, regardless of whatever misconceptions some people are under.
Yeah, this is right. We all have our different political opinions, but we all have the same opinion on DnD: it's fun. This website should unite us, not make us argue.
The following topics are not to be discussed on D&D Beyond.
Thank you D&D Beyond, for at least allowing the individuals that are spending money on your products to be aware of what their dollars are going towards so they can make an informed decision as to who to support, and who to not.
Discourse, on topics that genuinely affect the youth of this country, and world, should be embraced on forums to allow for freedom of thought, not just for regurgitating agendas.
I have a friend who was beaten to within an inch of his life by the police for being in the wrong skin at the wrong time.
This is awesome but would be nice if it was extended to other products! Awesome nonetheless!
Right? Sheeple politics now interfering in our games. I play DND to ESCAPE our worlds political nonsense.
Except that the past 7 days there have been masses of riots because people didn't leave when curfew set in and fought back. Not to mention the movement is trying to get #defundthepolice trending. So we are all okay with not having a police force at all and living in total chaos versus making police requirements more strenuous?
Awesome! Thanks for raising awareness and money for a great cause! Just bought a set.
I agree with what you are saying. Just too much.
For everyone saying that this somehow ruins their sense of escapism- how? It’s a set of digital dice, nothing more, and in a vacuum have nothing to do with the organization. It just so happens that buying them this week will fund an organization working for racial equality. That does not affect the game at all.
After this will the next set have proceeds donated to Blue Lives Matter considering the law enforcement officers that have been wounded and/or killed in the rioting? You could make a very elegant set with a blue line running in them.
as a company you have to cover the costs of creating something. Whenever you see a 100% from a company, I guarantee that over 90% means after costs and there is nothing wrong with that.
its sad that no matter what you say or how you say it Badeye someone is going to take offence to it. Dont say anything and your an oppressor. Offer 50% of profits and its not enough. Say 100% of the profits and they want to know how you calculate profits. It should be enough to say you dont agree with what happened, but people demand you donate or your a terrible company.
you know it wasn't all cops that killed that man right? It was 1 angry cop. I am 100% certain that not all cops wanted George to die.
You know it wasn't all cops that attacked George right? It was 1 bad cop. I am 100% certain that not all cops wanted to kill him because he was black.
Thank you
Plus the three who stood there and watched. Plus the department that wanted to close ranks around him. Plus the system that acquitted the guy who shot Philando Castile.
