D&D Beyond is excited to announce the release of the all-new, consolidated D&D Beyond App! Gone are the days of two separate apps: we’ve combined the power of the D&D Beyond toolset with new mobile features to make your Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition games more accessible and more fun. The app is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
The toolset makes it easier to reference D&D content, with features ranging from a guided character creation, dynamic character sheets and spell management, plus the ability to search and bookmark books in your library. The app is the perfect mobile solution for every D&D player — whether you’re a new player, a veteran campaigner, or legendary Dungeon Master.
Play with Advantage
Mobile character creation is easier with the character builder tool walking you through every step of the character creation process. You’ll never have to enter a game without your character sheet again — access your characters online or offline and be ready for skill checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or whatever twists your DM throws at you. Manage your character's health, abilities, spells, and inventory.
Forgot your dice? Roll directly in the app with themed digital dice sets!
Dungeon Masters will enjoy the ability to easily access monster stat blocks and game rules in the D&D Beyond App. Bookmark your favorite monsters or frequently used rules, search spells, and gaze longingly over your backlog of characters you'd love to play (some day, maybe...).
What if I already own the Player App or Reader App?
Adventurers who have the D&D Beyond Player App will simply need to update the app to access the new tools! If you are using the D&D Beyond Reader App, you'll need to migrate over to the new app.
Does the new app allow for adding custom items?
I'm sure they hear this a lot, but Great Weapon Fighting should be ready by now. At least I think so. Glad they fixed fighting initiate so quickly.
Would it be possible to have the new app support iOS 12 like the older reader app does? I have an iPad mini 2 that won't upgrade to any newer OS, and worked great for rules reference until now.
^THIS^
I am in the exact same situation, and i only use my ipad for this, so it would be annoying to have to buy a new one
I've been waiting to be able to access my characters on my phone
This 3x
Fire Tablets would be great too, but I understand we are the red headed stepchild of support. (Respect to red headed step children everywhere.)
I do not have enough space on my phone's internal memory for DLing any content. This needs an option to save to the external SD card to make it usable.
Many congratulations on the new app, and grateful thanks! I am particularly thrilled with the “Book” display style, it is beautiful, and the serif font improves readability tremendously. The app’s presentation of the sourcebooks is now quite close to the ideal of searchable, annotatable PDFs (which is no doubt impossible for licensing reasons). With cross-linking, the presentation is actually a step beyond a PDF.
I’m sure you’re furiously working on many more features, I would just like to try to bump one up the queue: could you please include the tags section at the bottom of the spell displays? In particular, the list of classes that can cast a given spell is invaluable. (I have never understood why the hardbacks don’t include the class list with each spell description; your excellent, cross-referenced spell database is actually what led me to dndbeyond in the first place.)
Cheers and thank you for your consideration!
Very simply because the first book that adds a subclass that has access to a given spell renders the full list obsolete - and half the books add subclasses granting access to spells not previously accessible for the class.
Not thrilled with it, have a few of the physical books and unable to use that material because I don't have the virtual edition
Are you also sour about Need For Speed because you can't use your car in it even though you bought the physical version?
I'm loving the update! Thanks !
Mine works great on my Fire Tablet 10. But you need to sideload the Google Play Store. It's easy to find instructions for that online.
I really like the new app. One request though. I prep on my phone but DM using both my tablet and my phone. The ability to sync bookmarks between the two would be really helpful.
Thank you, that was incredibly helpful
Love the consolidated app but it needs a light mode or I can't use most of it. Dark mode causes eye strain and migraines for me and a fair number of people so hopefully this can be fixed at some point. You already have a view setting change in the books so it shouldn't be too hard to implement for the rest of the app.
Love the new layout. Cheers. And keep up the amazing work, you amazing people!
The app is pretty good so far... i would like to be able to edit my characters in app, but so far that is not possible. Unfortunate, but not horrible.
Are you guys ever going to fix it so the “extras” tab in the app actually works? It has said under maintenance for over two years now.
