You beseech an otherworldly entity for aid. The being must be known to you: a god, a demon prince, or some other being of cosmic power. That entity sends a Celestial, an Elemental, or a Fiend loyal to it to aid you, making the creature appear in an unoccupied space within range. If you know a specific creature’s name, you can speak that name when you cast this spell to request that creature,…

You attempt to bind a Celestial, an Elemental, a Fey, or a Fiend to your service. The creature must be within range for the entire casting of the spell. (Typically, the creature is first summoned into the center of the inverted version of the Magic Circle spell to trap it while this spell is cast.) At the completion of the casting, the target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be bound to…
You can use the Planar Adventure Situations table instead of the tables in the “ Adventure Situations by Level ” section in chapter 4 to inspire adventures that draw characters into the planes of existence. These adventure ideas are most appropriate for characters of level 11+.
For your campaign, you can use a different model of the planes. Here are several examples:
A portal is a stationary, interplanar connection that links a specific location on one plane of existence to a specific location on another. Some portals function like doorways, appearing as a clear window or a fog-shrouded passage, and interplanar travel is as simple as moving through the portal. Other portals are locations—circles of standing stones, soaring towers, sailing ships, or even whole…
The Sovereigns embody pillars of civilization: agriculture, commerce, industry, honor, law. The Dark Six represent frightening and destructive forces, their existence explaining why bad things happen in the world. When a wildfire destroys a village, the Devourer is to blame. When someone commits a crime of passion, they were overcome by the Fury. When monsters prey on the innocent, good people…
A creature is your ally if it is a member of your adventuring party, your friend, on your side in combat, or a creature that the rules or the DM designates as your ally.
The Blood of Vol emerged from collaboration with Aereni necromancers, and the undead have always been associated with the faith. First and foremost, this link is born out of practicality. Seekers have no reverence for corpses; the divinity within is tied to life and to the soul, and once those things are gone, what's left is just meat and bone. As an extension of this, most Seekers want their…
Planetars deliver the punishment of righteous gods. These angels innately know truth from lies, and they use magic and blessed weapons to protect the just and root out wickedness across the Multiverse. These angels act where they can against overwhelming evil, but to avoid the attention of the Lower Planes, they prefer to let mortals attend to affairs on the Material Plane. Planetars often choose…
Large Celestial (Angel), Lawful Good AC 19 Initiative +10 (20) HP 262 (21d10 + 147) Speed 40 ft., Fly 120 ft. (hover)
Even without planar travel, there are many ways the planes can manifest in an adventure. This chapter examines these potential impacts for each plane using three general categories. Manifest Zones. These are places where the influence of a plane can be directly felt in the Material Plane. Each manifest zone is tied to a particular physical location on the Material Plane; this is true not only for…
Weapon (rapier), very rare (requires attunement) This thin blade seems to toe the line between planes of existence, occasionally allowing it to bend the planes to extend beyond its normal reach. You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. The Rapier has 5 charges and regains 1d4 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. When you make a melee attack roll with the…
Wondrous Item, Common The compass-like mechanisms on top of this pair of matching leather bracelets remain motionless until each bracelet is worn by a different creature. While they’re worn, each compass points in the direction of the other bracelet. It doesn’t indicate height or depth. The compasses spin wildly if the two bands are worn on different planes of existence.
If a space is Difficult Terrain, every foot of movement in that space costs 1 extra foot. For example, moving 5 feet through Difficult Terrain costs 10 feet of movement. Difficult Terrain isn’t cumulative; either a space is Difficult Terrain or it isn’t. A space is Difficult Terrain if the space contains any of the following or something similar:
Daanvi does two things remarkably well: watch people and punish them. Adventurers could come into possession of an exceptional Crystal Ball that’s been stolen from the Panopticon, or a set of Dimensional Shackles lost by an orthon bounty hunter. Another way that people on the Material Plane can interact with Daanvi is through an Unbreakable Contract. In the Hall of Justice, any two creatures can…
Large Beast, Unaligned AC 12 Initiative –1 (9) Initiative −1 (9) HP 42 (5d10 + 15) Speed 40 ft.
Ceustodaemons form from the souls of vile mortals, particularly those who took efforts to hasten their own deaths, their willingness shaping them into daemonic servants. Their otherworldly senses make them useful for protecting vaults and similar locations on the Material Plane. Ceustodaemons are created to serve, but always seek ways to subvert their bindings, so they can rend their mortal…
If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can push the creature up to 10 feet straight away from yourself if it is Large or smaller.
Near the alley’s southern end, balconies to the east and west overlook the alley. The balconies are 10 feet above the ground.
The buildings that flank the alley are made of wood and have flat roofs 20 feet above the ground.
