Chain Those Who Stray, Free Those Who Follow

The Chain Domain Cleric is one who lives their life holding tightly to the chains of life, following them like a strict code, or breaking the chains of life, freeing themselves and those around them. This Domain finds structure in rigid environments, or finds themselves freeing those around them from the chains and burdens of life.

Level 3: Chain Domain Spells

Your connection to this divine domain ensures you always have certain spells ready. When you reach a Cleric level specified in the Chain Domain Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Level 3: Unravel Chains

You have the power to break the bindings that hold the innocent. You can take a Bonus Action to touch a creature (including yourself) and end the Grappled or Restrained condition on it. You can also end any effect currently reducing the target’s Speed to 0.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 3: Heavy Burden

As a Magic Action, you expend one use of your Channel Divinity to manifest spectral chains. Choose a number of creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) that you can see within 30 feet of you. Each target must make a Strength Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC.

On a failed save, a creature takes [roll]2d8[/roll] Force damage, and its Speed is reduced to 0 for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage only.

An affected creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Level 6: Lock and Key

Lock. Your chains constrict those they bind. A creature that starts its turn with its Speed reduced to 0 by your Heavy Burden feature takes Force damage equal to your Wisdom modifier. Additionally, when a creature succeeds on a saving throw against a spell you cast that would impose the Restrained, Paralyzed, or Stunned condition, that creature takes Force damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Key. When you use your Unravel Chains feature, or when you cast a spell of Level 1 or higher that restores Hit Points or ends a Condition, the target gains Temporary Hit Points equal to 1d8 plus your Wisdom modifier.

Level 17: Absolute Authority

Your control over the bindings of the multiverse is absolute. You gain the following benefits:

Inescapable Bindings. When you cast a spell that imposes the Restrained, Paralyzed, or Stunned condition, one target of the spell has Disadvantage on the initial saving throw.

Crushing Chains. When a creature fails its saving throw against your Heavy Burden feature, you can choose for it to have the Restrained condition instead of having its Speed reduced to 0. This condition lasts for the duration of the feature or until the creature succeeds on the saving throw at the end of its turn.
