The UI on desktop is really annoying (and this is true across the entire website). Everything is far to big. Text boxes take up at least twice as much vertical space than they need to, without changing the text size.
There is so little information displayed above the fold, even on high resolution screens, it's nearly unsuable. On my Macbook air, the normal filter section takes up so much space only one spell entry is visible without scrolling.
Search filters should be displayed outside individual text boxes. If you enter a filter in the "Advanced FIlters" section, you can't see that filter is turned on once you execute the filter as the advanced filter section is hidden. The active filters should all be visible separate from the boxes their entered.
I mean maybe Curse has done a lot of UI/UX research that says differently, but to me there seems to be huge amount of room for improvement.
I don't know if this has been posted already, but is there any way that Paladins could get the ability to build their known spell list like wiz and sorc... or am I missing something that states that spells know are "auto-generated"? For example being able to take Wrathful Smite over Purify Food and Drink at 2nd lvl.

Thanks.
Paladins (and Clerics and Rangers), 'know' every spell on their spell list and can prepare any spells from their list each day.
Then my issue would be with site mechanics, my Paladin spell list states all spells known and caps at 11 known spells, but is missing the 3 Smite spells.

The smite spells are not part of the SRD, and therefore are not available in the Beta.
Hey, a cool and useful feature would be to be able to filter spells that are common to two or more classes. For example, spells appear on both the wizard and the sorcerer spell list, but not spells that only appear on one of them.
The mega threads are difficult to sift through in order to see if something has already been mentioned. I tried, but did not see this one:
On my character sheet, when I open a spell listing, like "Identify," it lists V,S,M at the top indicating Verbal, Somatic, and Material components are needed. It does not however indicate what those material components are.
If you manually look up the spell "Identify" in the compendium, the listing includes a like * at the bottom with the material components listed.
Could we get the character sheet spell listing to also include those components (at least if they have a value, like a pearl of 100 gp)? For the cheap basic components, those are assumed to be in your Component Pouch.

this is intentional - the search function will show results from all Wizards of the Coast publications that have been loaded onto D&D Beyond.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
This means, though you can see them, you'll get a 403 error if you click on them. Ultimately, I believe this will be replaced with a more friendly message, telling you why you can't view that page.
My guess is that it will be changed to an "Option to Purchase" once we're out of beta. :-)

Guess I'm a little late to the party, decided to try to add my 5th level Paladin (not a question about missing smite spells/oaths for a change); would it be possible to put an indicator on the Prepared Spell list to show which spells are there based on the Oath? I know they are listed as Always Prepared under Known Spells, but I may be a little more loose with casting them if I know they are from the Oath and I can get them back after the short rest. I guess it would be the same for Land Druids (based on what region they select) and Clerics for their Domain et al.
Also, I was not able to select a second level 2 spell, no matter what I try to choose. Not sure if it's just beta issues, or something that is going to be a problem.

I just checked and it works correctly for me, on my 5th level Paladin.
Can you check that you added the levels into Paladin, not just the character?
Click on the character portrait on the character sheet and choose "manage levels" from the dropdown and check there.

You don't regain Oath spells (or the domain/land ones) back after a Short Rest. They are considered always prepared and you use them or the other prepared spells and your pool of spell slots to cast them.
This character is not multi-class, but I double checked and it has level 5 on both character and spells. It also shows on the character sheet that I have 4 level 1 and 2 level 2 slots
I unprepared all my spells and selected 2 second level spells, but now it will only allow me to select 2 first level spells. So it's only allowing me to select 4 spells total.
Does everyone else just see the ritual tag as sort of blurry black box? It would be great if this was more easily visible, especially when using the character sheet on mobile.
When playing a wizard it very handy to be able to easily identify my rituals, even if they are not prepared.

Hello,
There's a typo in Daylight - in last paragraph there's an unintentional slash at the beginning of the spell tag.
Also - I've mentioned it on the previous page but a small post could've been overlooked - reposting it here:
For the spell Augury
"Weal and woe" should be all bold, not only Weal (third option).

Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

The new spell listing is much, much better. Being able to filter by spell level makes all the difference.

Phantasmal Force is not listed in the spell list
Are you sure about it? I can see it clearly.

Yeah, when you try to add a spell and use the filter - i cant upload screenshots.
I only see Phantom Steed and Phantasmal Killer

Then I've been cheating myself, I'm used to OD&D (white books from 1974 where we didn't have that).
It would still be nice to have in indicator to differentiate these from selected spells.
