Upon release will everything be customizable? Specific example: If my class doesn't allow me to have a feat at 1st level but my DM allows me to have one, I'd rather just be able to add it in instead of homebrewing a whole class. Will those types of fields be able to be added even if they don't match with what a character "should" get?
As far as I understand, the current homebrew is limited to spells, items and monsters. A whole lot of stuff is in the works, but we don't have an exact priority list. I myself am interested in custom/homebrew feats for example.
Right. I am not even talking about homebrewing the feat. I am just saying I'd like to have the ability to add a feat to my character sheet even if the usual progression would not have one for him. On paper it is easy. On beyond, so far I can't add the feat because it follows only what the book says you can have.
If not/until it's implemented, a workaround is to homebrew an item that grants the same effects as the feat.
Elven Chain is now considered "proficient" for all characters. As part of this, we have added a new modifier type that can also be used for homebrew - Proficiency > Self will make characters proficient for the one item that has that modifier.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I am trying to create a magic weapon with Proficiency > Self as a modifier, and it doesn't appear in the list. I click Proficiency, but there's no Self in the secondary drop down. Was this an option only implemented for Elven Chain?
I have noticed that when creating magic items that grant the ability to cast certain spells, not all spells are available to be selected for that magic item. This is also true for home-brew spells that were created. It appears as if basic rules spells, or some other subset of the spell list, are the only available spells to be selected.

That is correct.
At this time only SRD/Basic Rules material is available for homebrew. Staff is looking into ways to allow users to create homebrew with unlocked content, but it may be restricted to personal use.

I long for this functionality! Some of my players' characters have spent down time creating magic items that incorporate non-SRD spells, but I can't adequately replicate it using the otherwise amazing homebrew creation tools. The restriction to private sharing in a campaign only along the lines of the actual content sounds like a perfect solution. The team has done so well with this product. Keep up the good work!
Hello, I don't know if this has been brought up but I noticed a few issues with the character builder.
1) Spells from Race or some class ability's such as High Elf free cantrips do not show as a known spell. and spells abilities learned on a non caster classes such as shadow monks also do not show as spells. The spells are in the description for the race/class abilites, but without the spell information you have to leave the character page to look up the spell
2) Creating Adventurers League viable characters is hard if you buy a few sorce books. We can use the PHB and one other sorce book (other then backgrounds) to stay AL legal. When picking a race you can pick what book you can see but with spells and sub classes you can't see what Book they are from. So if you pick a race from Volo's it's hard to pick what spells are only from the PHB

1) While it would make sense to have them there, I think the initial thought was that they're more like spell-like abilities from 3.5 edition, and not actually spells as you don't use spell slots to cast them and can do so in a limited manner. However, with that said, I do agree that they should be in the spells or limited use section. Cantrips should definitely be in the spell section.
2) Adventurers league validation will eventually be supported, but there hasn't been an established date yet. I too would love to see that as I only play adventurers league.

Homebrew: Spells. Items.
Subclasses: Mythwalker (fighter).
