My family bought the Shadow of the Dragon Queen Deluxe Edition at their local game store as a Christmas gift for me. I don’t see the code included in the box and all support items make it sound like the DDB code is sent when you buy it from the online store. Is there still a digital code when you’re getting it from a brick and mortar store?
Nope. To get the digital edition you have to buy it from DDB. From what I heard from those who have, the physical versions still haven’t shipped for a lot of people.

To get the physical+digital bundle, you have to buy it from the WotC store.
Thanks. A little bit of a bummer considering the marketing. Seems bad that WOTC would insensitive buying physical stuff from their own store over retail stores. I'm hoping this is just because of the short time between the DDB acquisition and the book going to print, and not a sign of how they plan to do stuff moving forward.

The Dragonlance physical+digital bundle is their first test of the process. I'm with you and hoping they expand this to local stores in future releases.

A agree, especially since they are doing such a poor job of it... But fans have been demanding bundles with digital codes so they are experimenting with ways to do that.
I think they should have just done what they did with the essentials kit (which also had digital codes): release the bundle as a separate physical, sealed product sold at LGSs. There wont be any shipping problems because it is literally the exact same infrastructure they already use.
