Appearance: Joseph Estone is an athletic male human with blue eyes and brown hair. They are dressed in common traveler's clothes held at the waste by a thick belt from which a pouch dangles along with a backpack hanging from his shoulders to which several kits and cases are tied.
Background: Joseph Estone is a grizzled war veteran who was orphaned during a raid on his hometown by a legion of goblins and then pressed into the military service by his captors where he was forced to clean behind others in the camp, run supplies, and strip the dead of their weapons and armor following battles. Eventually these captors of his were defeated in battle by an army of humans and as a young teenager he was convinced to join them. While in their service he was thrust onto the field as a message carrier during battles. Narrowly escaping his death each time, the army went to war he naturally began to become trained in the art of war through experience. This was his life until a few years into adulthood when these small efforts of self-improvement somehow managed to gain the eye of the commander of the army. He was transferred to a combat unit, given a salary, and briefly trained to use firearms, before this army was vanquished in a long multi-year war of attrition with the orcish horde who had been raiding the countryside following a pyrrhic victory which had decimated their forces just a week prior to their ultimate defeat. The orcish victors left him for dead assuming his wounds would come to kill him as he laid among the dead, but they did not. Once everyone had gone, he pulled himself from the battlefield, tended his wounds, cleaned himself up, and used his final wages to purchase equipment.
Personality: I put no trust in divine beings, and I can stare down a hell hound without flinching.
Ideals: Sincerity. There’s no good in pretending to be something I’m not. (Neutral)
Bonds: Those who fight beside me are those worth dying for.
Flaws: I’d rather kill someone in their sleep than fight fair.
Origin Background: Wayfarer Origin Feat: Lucky Origin Tool: Thieves Tools Attributes: Wis +1, Dex +2 Race: Human Skillful: Medicine Versatile: Crafter - Brewer, Cartographer, Tinker Language: Common Sign Language, Goblin Stats: Point Buy Starting Equipment: 205 Gold
Items Joseph would enjoy obtaining during a campaign, changes pending release of 2024 DMG.
- Common - Boots of False Tracks Clothes of Mending Lock of Trickery Orb of Direction Orb of Time Pipe of Smoke Monsters Pole of Collapsing Rope of Mending Spyglass of Clairvoyance - Uncommon - Portal Compass
And with that I now have a level 1-20 templated character for each class in 2024 I can use for a one shot or for people just drop in to play a game without a character. For those interested here are links to the other builds.
Since my main is an Alchemist, I didn't build one for the Artificer. I cannot wait for the UA to complete but hope they change Experimental Elixir. I suppose having one nearly completely useless ability isn't terrible.
