Note: This is one of my oldest characters. I typically only use him for one shot or in campaigns where the hijinks are sure to be aimed at each other. Technically, he made his way to the Prime Material during 3e, but I wasn't sure what the DR is during 3e, I never used him for a 4e, and Faeries changed a lot. I do actually play the flute to so when I get to play him I get to jam and stuff. Great fun!
TL;DR - Hym Si'il is here for one thing and one thing only, CANDY, and if they don't get that sugar baby, he will drop you like gravity. He floats around the Realms convincing young fresh-faced adventurers into signing a contract with him. He holds any items essential to completing the quest they are all on until an exuberant amount of candy is paid to him. No, he will not accept coin you must buy him the candy. While he is charming enough to fool almost anyone into believing that Faeries of the Seelie Court are bound by contracts, they write like the Devils of the Nine Hells this is completely false, and he is more than willing to break whatever contract he makes if it suits him. To him it is more about the illusion of law and order and in this way - through illusion and charm - he controls people, monsters, the dead, and well everything really. He is also really good at flute and a few other instruments and has featured in two (iirc I am not sure if the second published) pod casts as well as several one shots wherein the adventure typically ends with him leaving those who added him to their party without any quest essential items including supplies in very precarious places because they never paid him his agreed allotment of candy. Thus, making it their fault.
Backstory: Hym Si'il was born in the Feywilde where he grew up like most other Fairies completely accustomed to the plane's unusual nature. From an early age he enjoyed playing music and the carefree lifestyle lived by most of his kind until one day a passing party of adventurers traveling through the Feywilde happened upon him, thought he was cute and gave him a piece of candy. Wanting more of this glorious sugary substance he secretly followed the party of adventurers as they traveled back to the Prime Material plane sometime around the late 1400s DR. Having no way of easily returning to the Feywilde, nor any real desire to, Hym Si'il set off to find more candy by becoming an adventurer himself!
Appearance: Before you is a tiny orb of light a little larger than roughly a human fist which shimmers faintly like starlight with four gossamer-like wings each approximately one foot long and a few inches wide.
Personality: Like a nomad, I can’t settle down in one place for very long and I have never lost my childlike sense of wonder.
Ideal: Wanderlust. I prefer to take the less traveled path. (Chaotic)
Bond: I’m fascinated by the beauty and wonder of this new land.
Flaw: Although scandal seems to follow me everywhere it is rarely my fault.

And with that I now have a level 1-20 templated character for each class in 2024 I can use for a one shot or for people just drop in to play a game without a character. For those interested here are links to the other builds.
Since my main is an Alchemist, I didn't build one for the Artificer. I cannot wait for the UA to complete but hope they change Experimental Elixir. I suppose having one nearly completely useless ability isn't terrible.
