For Spelljammer campaigns Mending is great! If you're an autognome and take mending, you can heal yourself with a cantrip (using hit dice)! Plus, it can repair spelljamming ships once per hour (and other things).
Also, you can break the wax seal on an envelope, read the document, and reseal it. You can repair a firearm after a misfire. Tease squirrels with empty walnut shells? Steal eggs and leave the shells intact?
It’s not on here because it’s not a wizard cantrip, you get it from your background, but encode thoughts is my favorite.

I’ve seen people saying that it’s a wizard spell in several posts, but where does it say that in the book? I just see it in the Dimir expanded Spell List on page 47.
Spending your action for damage resistance for a turn is not a good deal in most situations.

Hm. Interesting. On D&D Beyond it is listed as a Wizard spell, but on checking GGtR it doesn't specify it being on any class spell list.
