Hello!

I have run to this problem:

When I try to open any character sheet in DnD Beyond, the site crashes my browser. Firefox and Safari both give "an unexpected error happened" announcement and close completely every time I try to open any character sheet: my own characters or a character in one of my campaigns. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Which OS and type of computer/mobile device are you using?

Are you able to open a character in the Character Builder using "Edit" instead of "View" -- as in, does this only happen when you look at a sheet?

Have you recently added any homebrew, which could possibly be contributing to this?

I'm using macOS Catalina on a macbook pro. And I tested just now to "Edit" instead of "View" and got the same result: browser closed due unexpected error.
And also no, I haven't added homebrew recently.

You're not the only person on macOS having problems with the site lately. It's the weekend so less chance of staff responding, but we'll see what they can figure out.

Good to know I'm not the only one. This has been happening for few weeks now, so I hope this problem gets fixed. Thank you for replying to me!

I'm having this issue too. Started late last week. Apparently, there was an update to the character sheet. Maybe that caused a problem.

I can confirm that I'm still having problems on Mac - I'm on Catalina 10.15.7 and Safari 15.1. On Safari, I can't even view character sheets - the browser crashes to a "A Problem Repeated Occurred" message. I have also tried using a different browser - on Chrome I can view sheets however, the dice roller is completely non-functional (from stats and from custom rolls).

I have also tested on other operating systems - it seems to work fine on Android via the mobile app and Chrome on PC was fine.

This started happening for me on Wednesday last week (10th Nov) - I'm just trying to recall whether there was a software update on Mac that might have coincided with this.

On a different computer (macOS Big Sur 11.6.1, Safari 14.1.2) things are working. I don't dare upgrade :)

I suspect that a macOS update of some kind is conflicting with the most recent character sheet update.

I've been having this issue since I updated to the new OS. I've given up trying to look at things on a mac, and just use my phone now.

I've been having this issue myself, but not just on D&D Beyond, but also Heroforge and a few other CSS/Javascript intensive sites, but only on my mac using chrome. So I suspect this may be a Chrome for mac issue with one of the scripts used by these sites.

You can check updates by going to About This Mac -- > System Report --> then looking under Software - Installations.  You should then be able to see what the latest macOS update was and when, either by date sorting or just scrolling through to the Ms.

I'm running Catalina 10.15.7 and Safari 15.1 myself with no troubles, but I turned off auto-update and haven't installed the Catalina Security Update 2021-007 that was released late October.  I don't know that this is the problem, but it would be nice to know if it is a point of difference between your setup and mine (and others).

Yes, that's it. I installed Catalina Security Update 2021-007 on Nov 8th, which is when the problem started for me.

Yup, I installed the Catalina Security Update on Nov 10th, which is when everything fell over for me.

Has there been an update on this? I still can't access my characters.

 Can you be more specific about what browser and OS you are using?  You mention "the new OS" and "mac" earlier, is that Monterey?  most of the reports that specify a Mac OS above mention a Catalina update, but the newest Mac os is Monterey.

For the record, I'm on Monterey and use Chrome and have no problem accessing my characters.

I'm now on Catalina 10.15.7 (I have an older model of MacBook - mid to late 2012 which isn't supported by Monterey) with Safari 15.2 - there was an update within the last couple of weeks. Since that update, everything seems to be fine on Safari and Chrome for me.

I'm on safari 15.2 and Catalina 10.15.7.

It sounds like it may be a Safari or Catalina issue, then, although I'm stumped on why it is working for BrooGladerunner and not for xxd3cayxx.
