I'm trying to create a subclass for my cousin I had trouble with the feats but I think I fixed it the only other issue it's tell me is I can't post the subclass as it's has data mapped to it that is licensed content or homebrew content well I created 2 homebrew spells for this homebrew class would I not be able to publish this then?
3,7,15,20 so if I create features for those specific levels am I still able to add features in-between or can I only stick to those 4? Also if I create features that are also tied to homebrew spells can I still post the homebrew class publicly or will it be obsolete?

i finally got the class up and running but the 2 spells i created and added to the classes spell list are not showing up when i go to check the homebrew spells are still in the spell list but they dont show up on the characters spells once on the sheet. When i go to check the classes spells again it shows the spells there but it says there is 3 versions of the same spell added.
I'm making a fighter with kind of a lvl 0/1 ability, kind of like a curse but I see the lowest requirement is 3, is there any way I can get the ability to work below lvl 3 or is lvl 3 the lowest i can add anything?
Yup. I mean, technically you can designate the feature to occur at 1st level, but the PC won’t get it until they choose their subclass at 3rd level anyway so it’s a moot point.
Hey so I was having the same issue with this as well. I might have found a work around but first it is important to know if the homebrew spell has been published or not. If it hasn't try publishing it, if it won't let you publish it, it should give you a reason why; for example: "This homebrew item is similar to ... and can not be published". It shouldn't do it if you recreated a hombrew spell with your own adjustments, however if it is a spell within any of the source books registered to DnD Beyond, wether you own it or not, then it will come up with a similar publishing error.
If that does happen, my work around for it is to make a few additional changes in few things (which few is difficult to determine as an outside source to the situation but if you are creating a spell for infective Sleep, you need to make sure alot of the spell is different from the actual sleep spell even though, they essentialy do the same thing, just one on a infectious disease scale). often comparing your spell to the spell it is claimed to be similar to can help you work out the details.
If this is not your problem, make sure that the spell class and the spellcasting class for the subclass are the same and that you have tested the subclass (not published) to make sure it meets the right requirements for spells and spells of that spell class.
I have been working on a subclass rouges recently that gave them different types nature themed magics, of course my spell class was way off, and when i made the adjustments the spells were no good with the subclass so be warned this could really change things, I suppose it is good that you are using homebrew spells and can alter them to fit the subclass.
If none of these work, I should have a few more solutions in a few months time, but there are no gaurentee with the OGL roll out mucking things up.
I don't quite understand it, but Im gonna try to work on my barbarian subclass. As far as I can tell, you just need a feature on each level that barbarians have features on. I hope Im doing it right. Btw, if you reply to me, I probably wont respond. Im not the kind that does that.
I created a Warlock that has features at 1,6,10, and 14. Could my problem be that I have multiple features for the same level? For Example, I have two features at level 1.

I'm creating a speed-based Monk subclass based on a heavily-modified Way of the Four Elements monastic tradition.
I have disciplines set up with the standard comma separated level list taken unmodified from 4 elements (3,3,6,11,17), all my disciplines have level requirements set to one of those, I have snippets, descriptions, and actions. I don't have any disciplines available at any other levels. I have a functional scale value chart that works in the character builder/character sheet. Functionally, EVERYTHING works exactly as it should.
It's still telling me "This homebrew Subclass does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels". I've been over and over this thread trying to figure out what I might have done wrong, and I must still be missing something.
My ki point expenditure/level scale is different than standard, but as far as I can tell that shouldn't be causing the source of this problem.
It’s because the Wot4E monk doesn’t have any actual features at the required levels, just having disciplines at those levels isn’t enough for the system. But you don’t need to publish it to use it. You and your friends can use it exactly as is in your own games.
So if all I did make minor functionally irrelevant tweaks like changing wording in descriptions, no subclass based on W4E would be publishable? Are you telling me their own official subclass doesn't meet their own publishing standards if I made something that's built the same way on the backend?
That sounds really crazy and I'm just sure there has to be something I'm still missing that I could do to get this subclass to be publishable. I think I'm on to something really neat here, and I would love to be able to publish it.

Crazy as it sounds, it’s true. If you want to be able to publish it you MUST add features at the required levels. There’s simply no way around it.

3rd is the lowest level since the character can’t take a subclass before 3rd level.
