Welcome to the Support Thread for Mythic Odysseys of Theros
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character, please post in this thread.
RELEASE NOTES
Mythic Odysseys of Theros allows you to play as new races, such as Leonin and Satyr and explore new subclasses fit for heroes’ tales, including the College of Eloquence and the Oath of Heroism. Wield god-weapons that set your character apart from common mortals. Embrace your supernatural gifts which give characters an ability score increase. Encounter mythic creatures whose power and renown make them fit to challenge the gods.
Please be aware of the following before posting in this thread:
To use content from Mythic Odysseys of Theros in the character builder, you will need to set the character preferences to include the Magic: The Gathering source category (see image below).
CHARACTER OPTIONS: HEROIC DRIVE
The Heroic Drive, a variant reading of the normal Ideals, Bonds and Flaws which push Ordinary mortals to become the Heroes of Theran Legend. These can be represented using the usual backgrounds presentent throughout other sourcebooks with Theros flavoured twists, The descriptions of the Gods in Chapter 2 however present a unique set of new Ideals connected to these powerful entities.
A Background can quickly have one of these ideals inserted by
Go to the Description - Characteristics section of the character.
Clicking on the Ideals section
Under the Ideals header at the top, using free text editing to add or remove any Ideals you desire.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: SUPERNATURAL GIFTS
Supernatural Gifts are a large and diverse set of powers which can be added or removed from characters at anytime. At present, the devs have done a huge amount of work to prepare the groundwork for systems like this one to exist, but this work is still ongoing. For now, Supernatural Gifts cannot be added to the sheet directly.
This thread has a video detailing the creation of homebrew feats, the modifiers can be used to replicate the mechanical functions of these gifts at the present time.
Please remember that Feats which replicate Boons or Blessings (and as such, feats that replicate these gifts) cannot be shared publically, but they can be shared within your own private campaigns.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: HEROIC FEATS
Heroic Feats are a Variant of the above Supernatural Gifts, allowing DM's to grant feats to represent these supernatural powers bestowed to heroes. Feats can be added to a character at any time using the button shown below.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: RACES
Tritons as of Theros have been granted the power of Darkvision (helping them navigate their deep oceanic homes!) This has been retroactively added to the Triton of Volo's Guide to Monstersas an Errata update. This new sense should already be on your character sheets.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: SUBCLASSES
Both of the new Subclasses presented in the book are fully featured and functioning as intended!
CHARACTER OPTIONS: PIETY
Mythic Odysseys of Theros officially introduces the concept of new Ability Scores, previously discussed in the Dungeon Master's Guide as an optional rule.
Mechanically, characters in the Theros setting need to keep track of a Piety score, which starts at 1 and doesn't mention a maximum (though past 50 points it doesn't provide further benefits). Unfortunately, whilst we are working hard on adding functionality to the D&D Beyond character sheet, we don't have additional Ability Scores ready yet. In the meantime, here are some suggested ways that you can track your character's Piety score on your D&D Beyond character sheet.
In both cases, if you desire, you can copy the text from the relevant section of the sourcebook, to use as reference for your God/Goddess.
1. As a custom proficiency (click the spoiler tag to see image).
2. In the notes section (click the spoiler tag to see image).
MAGIC ITEMS & GOD-WEAPONS (ARTIFACTS)
Helm of the Gods - Due to the ever changing nature of this item, modelling it completely is not possible with our current toolset.
Artifacts of the Gods - These powerful and rare weapons also contain a new mechanic, escalating power based on the piety of a related deity. As above we are currently still working on the systems to fully support the tracking of these modifiers, for now these artifact entries are presented in their complete forms.
FRIENDS AND FOES: MYTHIC ENCOUNTERS
Mythic monsters Arasta of the Endless Web, Hythonia the Cruel, and Tromokratis have a new set of capabilities which have never been seen before, Mythic Traits and Mythic Actions. These actions and traits are represented on their stat blocks, with their actions being alongside their lair actions and Regional Effects.
We have updated the monster forms so that you can also homebrew your own mythic monsters!
As a College of Eloquence Bard, there appears to be a typo in some of the code around the Universal Speech feature.
On my character sheet, the feature reads:
As an action, choose modifier:cha@min:1#unisgned - Invalid keyword: unisgned creature(s) within 60 ft. The chosen creature(s) can magically understand you, regardless of the language you speak, for 1 hour. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest or expend a spell slot.
It may because it is late and I'm just not noticing where it is, but the Magic Resistance trait for Satyr seems to be missing from their DnD Beyond sheets. Changing an existing characters race to Satyr seems to have included everything, except the Magic Resistance racial trait. The trait is also missing when creating new characters.
The trait is mentioned in the chapter Character Creation -> Races -> Satyr: "Magic Resistance. You have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects."
Racial Traits on dnd beyond character sheet:
FeyMOoT, pg. 25
Your creature type is fey, rather than humanoid.
RamMOoT, pg. 25
Unarmed strikes may deal 1d4+3 Bludgeoning damage on a hit.
Ram: 1 Action
Mirthful LeapsMOoT, pg. 25
Whenever you make a long or high jump, you can roll a d8 and add the number rolled to the number of feet you cover, even when making a standing jump. This extra distance costs movement as normal.
RevelerMOoT, pg. 25
You have proficiency in the Performance and Persuasion skills, and you have proficiency with one musical instrument of your choice.
Dulcimer
I've checked every feature tab/filter and cannot find it.
Edit: It was pointed out to me that it is in my Saving Throws box. Please excuse me rolling a natural 1 on my Perception check.
This might not be a DDB issue but there is a typo or grammatical error in Chapter 1 just before the Gods and Devotion section. It says:
Notably, though, these gods have influence only over Theros and the two planes connected to it: Nyx, the starry realm of the gods, and the Underworld, eventual home of all die.
I think it intended to say "...eventual home of all who die."
In practical terms, then, the gods of Theros are no less real, powerful, or important to Theros than the gods of other worlds are to those worlds. Notably, though, these gods have influence only over Theros and the two planes connected to it: Nyx, the starry realm of the gods, and the Underworld, eventual home of all die.
Changing the Triton race as an errata has led to issues with characters in Adventurers League, this sourcebook is NOT AL legal and as such the change to the race is not allowed in play. I am sure you will hear from WOTC regarding this, it shouldn't have been an errata, it should have been left as a separate race.

Heh, well, I guess they forgot to communicate that to the AL Admins. They're reaching out to WOTC to get some clarification, it seems. This breaks precedent with other updates in non-FR books.

The code I got from my FLGS for pre-ordering isn’t working. Is this the proper place for that kind of issue?
Please make sure you're entering it as a discount code, adding to your basket in the marketplace.
This is distinctly different to the "Redeem a Key" section.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please submit a support ticket. The support team will be able to assist you with this. 🙂

As a College of Eloquence Bard, there appears to be a typo in some of the code around the Universal Speech feature.
On my character sheet, the feature reads:
Presumably "unisgned" is meant to be "unsigned".
Also, not a bug, but RIP Undeniable Logic :(
Bug in description of Universal Speech on Bard's College of Eloquence on char sheet.
AH!!! That was it! THANK YOU!!!
That is so much better then saying "We are Dead" so I'm glad to hear it.
Thank you for your hard work on the new release!

This might not be a DDB issue but there is a typo or grammatical error in Chapter 1 just before the Gods and Devotion section. It says:
I think it intended to say "...eventual home of all who die."
The book is marked as unavailable in the iOS app
A mod (Davyd) did respond to someone mentioning this issue in the Discord:
It usually takes longer for books to hit the app than the website.

Just thought id say.

just a typo, ya goofed.
