I am trying to look up my character's raw data in order to import it to my VTT (I've done this before multiple times); however, I can no longer access the page that contains it. Why??
Well, that's inconvenient, what will they do next? No longer allow the Beyond 20 plug in? They're just giving me more reasons to walk away from them. If they don't want people using other platforms they need to come up with their VTT already! Otherwise, Beyond is of no use to me as a player that plays exclusively online.
It has nothing to do with stopping people from using 3rd party tools and everything to do with improving the database and systems that make D&D Beyond function.
We have decommissioned (and removed) many endpoints used by our older Character Sheet. These routes were never publicly supported, and are being removed to avoid potential issues with data freshness and accuracy. We continue to explore the opportunity to provide a supported, documented API in the future.
As we plan an eventual public API, we would love to hear your feedback on what you would want out of an API and how you're currently using this information to help us make it as useful as possible. You can share that here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback

To me, that sounds like it could reduce the up to 15 minute lag that can happen when updating homebrews, or the server caching issues that people keep reporting as bugs in that forum every couple hours. If that’s the case, I’m all for it. Of course, I don’t even know what a JSON is, so take the opinion for what it’s worth. 🤷♂️ But I’ll bet most DDB users don’t know what a JSON is, so there’s that too.

As far as I'm aware the json file has been removed - or at least made inaccessible. It was never a feature they intended for people to use.
