Yea, we need a fix for this. Can't make any unique ammunition and there doesn't appear to be a way to make items that you can stack. Also, I'd really like a "non magic item" homebrew section, homebrew equipment or something. I'm constantly trying to make items that have no magic aspect whatsoever and have very little facility to do so.

You should be able to add custom items under EQUIPMENT>MANAGE EQUIPMENT>CUSTOM ITEMS One of my characters found a couple of rolls of toilet paper in an artificer's house. I added them to the equipment list using custom items near the bottom of manage equipment.
While this maybe a stop gap measure, explaining how to do this to a party member could prove difficult and I personally would rather build up a quick accessible data base of items to be able to quickly give to my players rather than just fluffing up some common item. Also sometimes you just want your players to have access to consumable items that can be purchased repeatedly like arrows, or bullets and having to remake the item each time via the equipment tab isn't something we should have to do, especially those who pay for a subscription.

You don’t, each player would only have to make it once. Those custom items are stackable, and the count can go as low as 0. So if they run out they can just leave the entry on their character sheet and whenever they get more they can just up the count again.
It has been almost 3.5 years since this thread was made, and still not fixed. I know it is probably a complicated issue, but seriously, it didn't take 3.5 years to create DnDBeyond, you can certainly fix some code in that time.

Major pain doing this multiple times with different characters over several campaigns. I have a catalogue of common items that the players can buy in any town at most blacksmiths and so this stuff comes up constantly. I recognise the ability to add it as a custom, but after doing this a dozen times already since my previous post over a year ago, I'm about done with that. Like let's be real, D&D beyond has plenty of support and after buying these books a second time over, I'd like prolific OLD issues like this to at least get some attention.
It's not a bug, it's a lack of feature that "they are not yet implementing"
The fact that they show custom ammunition in the drop down, but it errors out when you try to even make a copy of the stuff that's already in there means it's a bug. If there weren't any ammunition items in the drop down, then you could call it a missing feature, but it's there and it doesn't work, so that makes it a bug.

This is the thing that gets me. People talk about the website like it's some tiny little skunkworks coding project, but it really isn't. DnDBeyond is basically the place to buy digital copies of the DnD books. They even got the approval to use the official WotC iconography for their DnD logo. For this being one of the biggest DnD sites on the internet and with the official nod they've gotten from the creators, and with all the money people have sunk into it, it really doesn't feel like we're asking a ton of them when we say "hey, can you just make that drop down on the custom item page actually work now?"

Yup. Sure would like to see this fixed. Doesnt even seem like this would be much effort to fix. Duplicate potions and rename as ammunition. Add to the appropriate list.

Oh. You mean just like the Epic Boons from the DMG.

At this point I feel like we should just raid their Dev Update streams with this topic/issue constantly.
Might at least get us an answer...
I am down. Revolution!
