Trying to create magic items that increase a player's max hp or apply temp hp when equipped or attuned, but most bonuses added to the item aren't being applied to the character sheets.
When creating a magic item and selecting ADD A MODIFIER:
MODIFIER TYPE: "Bonus", SUBTYPE: "Hit Points" Typing values into the DICE COUNT, DIE TYPE, FIXED VALUE, or ADDITIONAL BONUS TYPE fields don't result in anything, nothing gets applied to the character sheet when the item gets equipped or attuned to. The only field that works is the ABILITY SCORE field, which correctly applies the chosen modifier value to your maximum hit points.
MODIFIER TYPE: "Bonus", SUBTYPE: "Hit Points Per Level" FIXED VALUE field works as intended, but other fields do not work or add anything to the character sheet.
MODIFIER TYPE: "Bonus", SUBTYPE: "Temporary Hit Points" None of the fields do anything. Nothing you put into the fields are displayed on the character sheet.
That modifier is used for things like Cure Wounds to heal HP, not to add HP. Players can adjust HP directly on the character sheet, and there is no officially published magic items that do what you want. Therefore there is no modifier to do that.
Modifier: Bonus->Subtype: Hit Points Per Level
That modifier is used for features like the Draconic Sorcerer’s Draconic Resilience feature. All of the officially published materials that utilize that modifier only ever call for a fixed value represented as a whole number, so that modifier is designed to only work with that field, and require a whole, positive number.
Modifier: Bonus->Subtype: Temporary Hit Points
That modifier is used for things like the False Life spell to add THP. Players can adjust THP directly on the character sheet, and there is no officially published magic items that do what you want.
I ran into this and thought it was a bug. I greatly appreciate your breakdown IamSposta. 🥂
For now, I'll hold out hope that the feature gets implemented in the homebrew update or an official magic item comes along that forces it to be added. 😁

That is because of the following:

I hope that helps.
