I'm not asking for them to stack. I'm asking to be able to choose the best AC that applies. In this case, the Unarmored Defense will provide the best option. I'm trying to choose between the two options.
Edit: I apologize for the confusion about home brew, the home brew aspect was how I got the stats that I did. So, with said stats, Unarmored Defense will give me a 20 AC. The system does not appear to give me the option to select the desired AC.

So, what you're saying is that the character sheet is giving you AC 17 (tortle natural armor) when it should be 20 (10 + Dex + Wis)?

I've split this out to a separate thread and flagged as a bug, as it's a different issue to the one originally posted in the thread where these posts were.
The OP of this thread is still right though, when presented with multiple ways to calculate AC, it should select the one that yields the best overall AC.
EDIT: Nevermind, just realised you said you split the thread in two. consider the following text as a suggestion on solving it then.
Clicking the AC doesn'T let you choose anything, it just uses the first thing it sees. It definitely should allow us to choose which formula we use, including the Mage armor one if we have mage armor in our spell list.

Being able to override the AC calculation, immunities, and senses is an excellent addition.
However, given that Jeremy Crawford spent like, six hours on a podcast going over the AC calculations bit, I think it might be worth pursuing a more robust, automatic AC calculation feature as well.
Class features, magic items, and spells (so like, All the Content) can grant a different AC calculation options to a player, and (at least with beneficial changes) the player is allowed to select the calculation method they'd like to use.
Having the official sources of AC calc method identified, listed, and easily toggled between (without asterisks!) would be super helpful for a handful of reasons:
Future Adventurer's League support features like quick validation
Future Combat Tracker and Effects calculations making the usefulness of quickly switching when 10 + DEX + WIS isn't better than an "AC = n" buff. Say, in a bar fight being held down by four patrons you insulted in a drunken stupor, you'd rather quickly switch to the barkskin a party member dropped on you.
Increasing general awareness of a pretty important bit of 5E AC rules. (Players of older editions forgetting, new players in general not understanding how bounded accuracy and not stacking all the AC is really going to change combat feel)
Just generally being a supremely useful reminder, which speeds up game play and character creation, and that's like...a core competency of this service. :)
While I'm all for being able to customize the AC (I really do love it honest). The Natural Defense is now not calculating correctly. My AC is now showing 15 rather then 20. While I can now fix this by customizing the AC, this shows that something isn't calculating correctly on the back end and I shouldn't have to customize it.
I just tested the AC to see which stat it's not reading correctly and it appears to be not reading the Dex stat to AC.

The Natural Armor of your character seems fine. We reported the issue with Unarmored Defense. We will post in this thread when we will know more. Thanks for the report.
Browsing this thread two years later and it is still giving me an AC of 17 instead of 10+4+4, did you fix it and then revert the fix? Or am I missing something?

can you share here the link address of your character, please?
Stormknight, can you please show me the rule that state that you have to choose between Natural Armor of 17 for your monk tortle and "Unarmored defense" or explain where this interpretation comes from?
The question aroused at a game that I'm DMming, in which a Player pointed out the following:
Rules
A. Natural Armor: Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing armor. Your shell provides ample protection, however; it gives you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn’t affect this number). You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield’s bonus as normal.
B. Unarmored defense: Beginning at 1st level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier.
Argument
1. The base AC of a Tortle is 17, because of its shell.
2. The base AC of a Tortle applies always, because it can't take its shell off.
3. As a Tortle, his Dexterity modifier does not apply to calculate AC (for AC: Dex modifier = 0).
4. As a Tortle, you can wear an armor, so Natural Armor is not equal to wearing armor.
5. Unarmored defense applies when you are not wearing armor nor wielding a shield.
6. He was not wearing armor nor wielding a shield.
I pointed out that when Unarmored defense applies, it's stated in the text that the base AC is 10 regardless of anything else, even though I must concede that I see his point but am not sure about it. On the one hand,10 is the default base AC, the Tortle has an specific one and it doesn't say anywhere that you can't add your Wisdom modifier to calculate your AC (just your Dexterity). On the other hand, in the Rule of the Unarmored defense says specifically 10 and not "base AC" or something like that.
Stormknight, can you please show me the rule that state that you have to choose between Natural Armor of 17 for your monk tortle and "Unarmored defense" or explain where this interpretation comes from?
The Tortle's natural armour is an AC Calculation (AC = 17) - as is the Monk's Unarmoured Defence (AC = 10 + Dex + Wis). With that knowledge:
The problem I have is the system does not give me an option. My AC should be 20 (home brew rules on how to get the stats).

Moderators & staff are able to view any character from it's link, so it's a valid way of asking for help. :)
Akito - as you know from above, the Monk's unarmored defense ability doesn't stack with the Tortle's base AC due to it's shell.
If you wish to homebrew rules that they do stack, the best suggestion I have is to create a private homebrew item to add WIS bonus to AC.
To do this, do the following:
Your item has been created and you can add and equip it to your character.

Stormknight,
I'm not asking for them to stack. I'm asking to be able to choose the best AC that applies. In this case, the Unarmored Defense will provide the best option. I'm trying to choose between the two options.

This problem is resolved as per the last update.
The builder selects the best AC method and applies it to the character.
Thank you. :D you guys are the best.

@filcat, It is automatically using my Natural Armor (17) score instead of my Unarmored Defense score (18), so I have to manually override. https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/NorthwestNiner/characters/13123680
