Hey I was actually coming to this thread with a similar question about Evards black tentacles, could you expand on the special licensing and what it means for spell names?
The quick version is that some words (usually names and things) belong to Wizards of the Coast, and are unique enough to Dungeons and Dragons that they can't be used freely in the SRD. This includes things like displacer beasts, beholders, and illithids (among others), but also names like Tenser, Mordenkainen, Bigby, and Evard (famous spellcasters).
Because of that, some monsters are omitted entirely. This is not only because of their uniqueness to D&D. Sometimes it is just a decision based on the old OGL (but that's a big long discussion). Basically, most monsters are famous for being part of D&D, and aren't given freely to the public (which is what the SRD is... it's a blueprint for making your own game material using the core of the D&D game engine).
But spells are different. If they can just change "Evard's Black Tentacles" to just "Black Tentacles", then everything should be fine, and that's why the SRD has spells that omit the names of those famous spellcasters.
Ahhh I understand now! Thanks for taking the time to explain I originally thought that this was from wizards so I was confused as to why the licensing was a problem. This however makes far more sense. Thanks again!
Is 'Ritual' not a spell tag yet? It would be great to be able to filter by spells that can be cast as rituals
You can already - expand the advanced filters and Ritual is one of the flags you can filter by.
And I keep forgetting it is is under the advanced settings and trying to note that little black box with the white R (well I have to take your word for what that squiggle is), isn't always easy. I had no idea that was what it was until someone told me a few days ago in this thread. LOL

PbP - Beregost Blues - Portia Starflower, Half Elf, Cleric, Life Domain PbP - Tome of Annhilation - Vistani Mocanu, Human, Bard
I am sure it has already been said, but my first critique is the limited number of spells that appear. If i put a filter for sorceror and warlock, cantrip 1 2 3 spells, i have 6 pages of results. I personally would prefer a single page of results so i can compare and contrast the spell options easily, as opposed to loading then going to the next page of like ten spells then the next etc so on and so forth. it makes it harder to peruse them

The Empty Throne, The Eternal March, The Forced Hand
While looking at the spell list I noticed that I could not find any unearthed arcana there so i was thinking you could make an Advanced surch for unearthed arcana or just make it in to one of the tabs at the top of the page

During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules & Elemental Evil Companion. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book or Supplement, nor playtest material from Unearthed Arcana.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.

When a spell is expanded, the header should expand to allow the name to line wrap and be completely readable. When in portrait mode my droid only shows "Abi-Dalzim’s Horri..." And even in landscape it still cuts to "Abi-Dalzim’s Horrid Wilt..."

This would be nice. I don't have a droid, but can simulate what it does by shrinking my browser. I figured out on a 1600x900 screen that if I make the width about 25% of my screen or smaller it starts wanting to cut off the name. I think the issue is that the name is part of the header here. Also the buttons for Spell Rules and the Browse Homebrew totally disappear and don't show up in the drop down menu that only has the main Characters, Compendium, etc. list from the top of the header bar. So the header needs some work as for how the name of spells and those other related buttons show up.
The same thing happens on monsters and items, not only the spells. the two buttons on the right go poof and the name ends up with ... if too long.

Yeah, we for sure still have a ticket in to fix this!
Identifying concentration from the spell's description was not readily apparent at first viewing. It took several views before identifying the "C" symbol in the description. Now that I know what to look for, its easily identifiable in the uncollapsed listing,. but making it more identifiable in the drop down with some kind nod to the "C" might be helpful. Perhaps using the "C" symbol in the drop down and spelling out the word, ie. <C>oncentration, in the Duration field.

Oh you're right, I was trying to type it in the actual 'spell tags' box.
Is there a reason that lightning arrow is missing from the spell lists please?

it'd be nice to sort spells by casting school
Would love to see "OR" search functionality. A powerful feature that would allow building and sharing of spell lists.
e.g. "Dispel Magic OR Find Familiar OR Magic Missile"
