I'm trying to DM a gestalt campaign, are there plans to make gestalt character sheets a thing?
No, because gestalts are a completely unofficial ruleset. If WotC put out their own version for Gestalt rules, DnD Beyond will implement it, but Beyond strives to reflect the rules as they are provided by WotC.

well, it was official in 3.5 era when the book about miniatures came out, there was rules for lower then 4 players. WotC called it gestalt ! but yeah, 5e do not have any official ruling.

what i would love to have is an option in the campaign section to distribute gold, items, etc to the characters. i get some DMs like to just tell them what to add and leave it to the characters... but i like homebrew items and such,... and characters can be lazy. i would know as i am also one.
even a small sub section in equipment, thats like a DM CHEST, where when we gift stuff to the players it ends up there for them to add to their inventory, or enable.
as a side note to this, A FREAKING DM SCREEN! honestly, why is there not a better layout for the campaign screen to see the players stats. i know i know theres that chrome extension, but if freaking sucks and is unreliable. i have had it not display stuff correctly too many times. and honestly dndbeyond should be able to do this with an optional enable button.
Is there any way to enable monsters and creatures to be assigned as Player PCs? I can homebrew a monster and adjust it to reflect progress over time, but trying to wrestle the race and class features in homebrew is an exercise in futility.

1) better equipement is coming, actually about to be released soon ! its on the horizon and about to land. that includes containers for bags and all. since they have made shared dicerolling, i think thats the road to the DM having access to equipements and all, but this i cannot guarantee. but better equipements are incoming and only them knows twhat that means. also, you already have access to the character sheets. if they are in your campaign you can modify them as a DM, thus you can give your players things in their inventories. i've been modifying character sheets on my campaign for a while now.
2) campaign management screen is also incoming, its been incoming since last year. but tasha's book completely stopped production on many things as that thing required a complete rewrite of their infrastructure. now that its been done, they have started completion on the other thing and while we don't know whats incoming in that department, campaign management page upgrade was something that was incoming before tasha dropped out. now thats its done me think they are resuming completeion of it. and its already incling in the nearby future since its on the trello and has been recently (a few months) been changed to incoming !

monsters are not playable characters and we're never designed as such. thus no, there is no way to make a monster as a playable character. that said, you can make a monster into a race and then allow the players to choose classes for their race. which literally do what you ask for.
i did a monster mind flayer race for one of my player and it worked like a charm. i don't know why you say its an exercise in futility... races allows you a lot of room to play with. i've seen complete classes done as a race.
by your post, i think you are trying the wrong way... there is no way to create monster classes for now. thus all you can do is create a monster race that can gain regular classes as they level up.

As a DM that takes things liberaly from all content to meld it all togheter I would love to have just a collection of all the maps I own over all the books. So I dont have to go in to every module and check every map but rather instead go in to a folder, see a small preview of the map and then open it up right there and then.

I meant very precisely what I said, is there a way to assign a monster as a players "Player Character".
It's easy to edit custom monsters, and a humanoid with a few racial features is the same as any of the existing races, there's a dramatic difference between a Mind Flayer and an Adult Blue Dragon.
I should apologize for framing the request as an inquiry, I'd like assignment of creatures as PCs so I can directly reference them in campaign, and maybe even features like Avrae. Maybe one day I'll get to wrestling the race and class editor to create a complex progression scheme for a variety of creatures, but that's a lot of work which will ultimately be received by users who oscillate between squeezing griffons into fighter subclass homebrew, because you can't even access root class creation on here (unless your a popular streaming broadcaster), and trivializing the interests of players who actually do want to try anything they can think of, a creative flexibility often claimed but actually not supported.
Is there a way (for the site programmers) to enable "Monster Manual" monsters and creatures to be assigned and used by players, as their player character, not their extra sidekicks? This question is directed at the D&Dbeyond programmers in the subject "Request and Vote for New Features for DDB", not the "what are the limitations of DDB and how do I shoehorn in excluded features thread".
I DM a lot of sequential one-shots and like to pick out ideas from published material to throw at my players. Would it be possible to provide a way to filter or sort owned sourcebook content by party level?
I love just about everything with your site and product keep up the great work! One small suggestion would to improve the conditions to include positive conditions too like Haste.
Forum request: somehow set up a means to have the dice roller roll for crit damage automagically? unless I'm just stupid and there is, in fact, a way to make it happen.

Haste is not a condition. But something like this is to be expected when the general features system comes in.
One thing that would be really handy would be a "TO TOP" button on the site and/or when you scroll up the menu bar appears. Some pages can be quite long and can make navigating a bit difficult at times. This is especially the case when you are in a source/adventure book, as the book nav is always present but the site nav disappears until you scroll all the way up to the top of the page.

I’m a mobile site user, so I don’t know if there is a desktop version of this, but if I tap the top of my browser above the URL bar it automatically takes me to the top. Maybe someone knows of something like this for desktop browsing?

For desktop, I just press the <Home> button on my keyboard. Not all keyboards come with it though, so you may have to fiddle around with a function key plus whatever other key, or the keyboard might not even have the function key at all to do simple miscellaneous commands like that. I think it is still a nice button to have on each section of the webpage just in case a user cannot use their <Home> button or for those who are less tech savvy.

do you mean as their main character, or as like a play controlled NPC ??
if its the latter, thats in the extras tab, manage extras and you can give them sidekicks, familiars etc.
if its the former you are talking about, other than creating homebrew monster races...i got nothing sorry.

A more compacted item list that could be collapsible would really be nice and less of a hassle to sort through. Things like:
Swords of Wounding
Maybe a homebrew option where we could create a custom category and pile our homebrew creations in them.
