I love having the books online because it makes it easier to look up information. I think that it would be an excellent feature if buyers were able to download a PDF version of the content that they have bought. I feel that this would make it easier when you are traveling and might not have an internet connection. It could also be great for DMs who want to read about specific objects, spells, monsters, etc., but may encounter internet issues.
To clarify--since one could read Silvva's post as meaning the app isn't available yet--the app is available in the app store and on Google Play, and it is possible to download the "books" to the app (but not as pdfs).

D&D Beyond has no plans to release a PDF version of the books. They are working on an e-reader type app, which does support offline mode though.

However, it is still in beta, so no character sheets yet, but Soon. However, that means that if you just want it for offline reading, perfectly fine.
